Manastır şehrinde eğitim öğretimin modernleşmesi (1869-1913)

Manastır şehrinde 19 yüzyıldan itibaren açılan modern eğitim kurumları olarak iptidaî mektepleri, rüştiye mektepleri, idadî mektepleri, sanayi mektebi ve Darülmuallimîn mektebi karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Ayrıca araştırmaya konu olan şehirdeki gayrimüslimlerin açtığı mektepler hakkında da araştırma yapılmıştır. Bu araştırmalarda Cumhurbaşkanlığı Osman Arşivi Başkanlığı'ndan elde edilen bilgiler temel alınmıştır. Açılan mekteplerin öğrenci, öğretmen, bina ve yönetim açısından ne gibi süreçlerden geçtiği, her öğretim kademesi ayrı ayrı bölümler halinde sunulmuştur. Manastır şehrinde diğer birçok Osmanlı şehrinde olduğu gibi modern eğitim kurumları açılmış, birçok öğrenci yetiştirmiştir. Bu mekteplerin açılmasında halkın malî desteğine de sürekli başvurulmuştur. Zira o dönemde Osmanlı Devleti'nin içinde bulunduğu ekonomik bunalım nedeniyle mekteplerin birçok ihtiyacı giderilememiş, halktan alınan destekle kısmen bu ihtiyaçlara çözüm bulunmuştur. Gayri Müslimler de şehirde birçok mektep açmıştır. Bu mekteplerde kendi lisanlarıyla eğitim vermiş, kendi çocuklarını yetiştirmişlerdir. Burada dikkati eken husus gayrimüslimlerin mektepler vasıtasıyla yaydıkları ayrılıkçı fikirler ve milliyetçilik ideolojisidir. Bu mesele hakkında birçok belge elde edilmiş ve konu kapsamının dışına çıkmamaya özen göstermek suretiyle okuyucuya sunulmuştur.

Non-muslim people established a number of schools in the city. In these schools , they trained students with their license and trained their own children. The striking point here is that seperatist ideas and ideology of nationalism which non-muslims propogate by way of schools.
