Özet

In the field of historical Turkic language, -(y)AsI (< -GA( y)sUG) suffix has become characteristic in Old Oghuz Turkic. In Old Oghuz Turkic, -(y)AsI suffix is often used as a participle suffix. In the texts of this period, -(y)AsI suffix is sometimes used in conjugated verbs. -(y)AsI suffix continues to be used extensively in Qashqai Turkish (South Oghuz), which is a member of Oghuz today. In Qashqai Turkish, -(y)AsI suffix is used in conjugated verbs. -(y)AsI is excluded from stereotypes except with the participle suffix function. The main reason for this is the interaction of Qashqai Turkish with Persian. Participle structures of Turkic are met with subordinate sentences in Persian. As a result of this feature of Persian, participles attached with -(y)AsI have been removed from usage in Qashqai. In Qashqai Turkish, mostly possessive personal suffixes are used after the (y)AsI suffix in finite verbs, in accordance with the historical development. However, in finite verbs, pronoun origin suffixes are also added to -(y)AsI suffix. The second conjugation table of -(y)AsI has emerged from pronoun originated person suffixes by analogy. In Qashqai Turkish, -(y)AsI is also used in the expression of some modality meanings due to its nature as the future tense suffix. In this respect, it is observed that -(y)AsI is often an additional feature that marks modality meanings. The suffixes in which the -(y)AsI is syntactic in the sentences, the syntactic structures in which it takes place and the meanings it encodes confirm this fact. On the other hand, in Qashqai Turkish, -(y)AsI suffix is also used in the aorist function, in other words, to convey the events that do not contain focal and always occur.
