Tarihte Türk-Leh ilişkileri çerçevesinde Galiçya'da şehit olan Türkler ve şehitlikler üzerine bazı tespitler

Birinci Dünya Savaşında Türkiye- Polonya tarihî dostluğuna köprü olabilecek bazı gelişmeler yaşanmıştır. Büyük bölümü bugün Polonya sınırları içinde bulunan Galiçya coğrafyasında, pek çok Osmanlı-Türk askeri şehadet mertebesine ulaşmıştır. Şehitlerin sayısı bugün bile tam tespit edilebilmiş değildir. Ancak, değişik verilerden hareketle Galiçya cephesinde Osmanlı kuvvetlerinin toplam zayiatının 15.000 civarında olduğu tahmin edilmektedir. Diğer yandan, Türkiye'nin Varşova Büyükelçiliğinin 1935-1937 yıllarındaki yazışmalarından anladığımıza göre, Galiçya bölgesinde 26 veya 30 yerde şehit mezarı bulunduğu halde, günümüzde bölgede Türk Askeri Ataşeliği sorumluluğunda ancak 15 Türk şehitliğinin varlığı, bize henüz tespit edilememiş şehit mezarlarının bulunduğunu göstermektedir. Bu araştırmada tarihte Türk-Leh ilişkileri çerçevesinde, Galiçya cephesi, bu cephede şehit olan Türkler ve şehitlikler konusu belgelerin ışığında analiz edilmiştir.

Throughout the First World War, the history witnessed some events which could act as a go-between to stimulate the historical amity between Turkey and Poland. A great number of Ottoman-Turkish soldiers were once martyred in the Galician region, the great part of which lies within the modern-day border of Poland. The number of soldiers martyred in the region is still ambiguous. However, taking various data into consideration, the number of total casualties of Ottoman forces in Galician front is assumed to be approximately 15.000. On the other hand, it is understood from the official correspondence performed between 1935 and 1937 by the Turkish Embassy in Warsaw that there appears to be 26 or 30 martyrs' graves although the Turkish Military Attaché in the region is in charge of only 15 Turkish martyrs' memorials, which suggests that there are some further martyrs' graves in the region pending to be discovered. This study hereby concerns a factual analysis of the issues of Galician front and Turks martyred therein as well as martyrs' memorials in the region on the basis of Turkish - Polish relations in history.
