Üniversite öğrencilerinin 21. yüzyıl becerilerinin bazı değişkenler açısından incelenmesi

Bu araştırmanın amacı, üniversite öğrencilerinin 21. Yüzyıl Yeterliliklerini ölçmek ve yeterliliklerinin öğrencilerinin cinsiyetlerine, yaşlarına, ailelerinin gelir düzeylerine ve üniversite giriş puan türlerine göre değişip değişmediğini incelemektir. Bu becerileri, yaşamının her alanında uygulaması ve işe koşarak kullanmaları gerekmektedir. Bu sebepten dolayı üniversite öğrencilerinin bu becerilere ne derece de sahip olduklarının belirlenmesi önemlidir. Bu araştırma da üniversite öğrencilerinin bu yeterliliklere ne derece de sahip olduklarını ölçebilmek için “21. Yüzyıl Yeterlilikleri Ölçeği” adlı bir ölçme aracı kullanılmıştır. 21. Yüzyıl Yeterlilik Ölçeği; Bilgi, Beceri, Karakter ve Meta-öğrenme isimli 4 alt ölçekten oluşmaktadır. 21. Yüzyıl Yeterlilik Ölçeğinin Bilgi alt ölçeğiyle ilgili maddeler (Girişimcilik, Kişisel Finans, Sosyal Sistem, Teknoloji-Mühendislik, Biyoenerji, Medya ve Sağlık) yedi faktör altında, 21. Yüzyıl Yeterlilik Ölçeğinin Beceri alt ölçeğiyle ilgili maddeler (İletişim, Eleştirel Düşünme, Yaratıcılık ve İşbirlikçi Öğrenme) dört faktör altında, 21. Yüzyıl Yeterlilik Ölçeğinin Karakter alt ölçeğiyle ilgili maddeler (Liderlik, Ahlak, Merak ve Farkındalık) dört faktör altında ve 21. Yüzyıl Yeterlilik Ölçeğinin Meta-öğrenme alt ölçeğiyle ilgili maddeler (Düşünce Yapısı ve Üst Biliş) iki faktör altında incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın evrenini 2018 – 2019 öğretim yılında Konya ilinde bulunan bir kamu üniversite öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Bu üniversitelerden seçkisiz örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 572 öğrenciye 21. Yüzyıl Yeterlilik Ölçeğinin testi uygulanmıştır. 21. Yüzyıl Yeterlilik Ölçeğinin testinde öğrencilerin bilgi ile ilgili maddeler hakkındaki bilgileri 27 maddelik bir soru listesi ile beceri ile ilgili maddeler hakkındaki bilgileri 18 maddelik bir soru listesi ile, karakter ile ilgili maddeler hakkında 19 maddelik bir soru listesi ile ve metaöğrenme ile ilgili maddeler hakkında bilgileri 16 maddelik bir soru listesi ile her bir deneyimin kadar sık veya nadiren yaşadığı, deneyimlerinin ne olması gerektiği değil, deneyimlerini gerçekten neyin etkilediğini göz önünde bulundurarak 1 ile 5 arasında puanlama vererek değerlendirmeleri istenmiştir. Veriler buna göre bulgular tablolar halinde gösterilerek açıklanmış ve yorumlanmıştır.

The aim of this study is to measure the 21st century qualifications of university students and to analyze whether the qualifications change according to certain characteristics of students; gender, age, family income levels and type of university entrance points. After graduation, students are expected to use their qualifications in all aspects of life, particularly when they begin to work. For this reason, it is important to determine to what extent university students possess these skills. For this purpose, as an assessment and evaluation instrument, ‘21st Century Skills Scale’ is used in order to measure the degree to which university students gained these qualifications.‘21st Century Skills Scale’ consists of 4 subscales: Knowledge, Abilities, Character and Meta-Learning. The items of the Knowledge subscale of the 21st Century Skills Scale are examined under six factors; Entrepreneurship, Personal Finance, Social System, Technology-Engineering, Bioenergy, Media and Health. The items of the Ability subscale of the 21st Century Skills Scale are examined under four factors; Communication, Critical Thinking, Creativity and Collaborative Learning. The items of the Character subscale of 21st Century Skills Scale are examined under four factors; Leadership, Ethics, Curiosity and Awareness. The items of the Meta-Learning subscale of the 21st Century Skills Scale are examined under two factors; Thought and Metacognition. The population of the research was composed of students from university in the city of Konya in the academic year of 2018- 2019. The 21st Century Skills Scale Test was applied to 572 students selected by random sampling method from this university. In the 21st Century Skills Scale Test, with a list of 27 questions assessing students' knowledge of items related with the Knowledge, a list of 18 questions for items related with the Skill subscale, a list of 19 questions for items related with the Character subscale, a list of 16 questions for items related with the Meta-Learning subscale. They were asked to evaluate each experience by scoring between 1 and 5 by considering how often or rarely each experience was experienced, not considering what the experience should be, but considering what really affected their experience. The data were explained and interpreted according to the findings as shown in the tables. As a result of the research, the subscale average scores of the Knowledge, Abilities, Character, and Meta-Learning of the 21st Century Skills significantly differs according to the measurement of the specific characteristics of students’ gender, age, family income levels, the graduation status of parents, the number of siblings, the faculty, department, class and university type.
