Mevlânanın eserlerinde Yûsufun gömleğinin kokusu

Mevlâna, eserlerinde Kurândaki önemli ve meşhur kıssalardan biri olan Yûsuf kıssasına sık sık atıfta bulunmaktadır. Onun eserlerinde özellikle Yûsufun gömleğinin kokusu, her bir zerreye yayılmış olan varlığın hakîkatini anlatmada bir sembol olarak önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Kokuyu genellikle hakîkatin ve güzelliğin kokusu anlamında ele alan Mevlânanın, özelde ise Yûsufun kokusunu ayrı bir metafor yaparak ilâhî kokuya karşılık olarak kullanması dikkat çekicidir. Yûsufun kokusu maneviyat körü olan kimselerin gözünü açacak olan ilaçtır. Bu manevi ilaç aynı zamanda, marifetin sırlarını ruhun kulağına söyleyen dildir. Gönlünde aşk derdi olanlar hep bu kokuyu aramakta, Yûsufun kokusu ümidiyle her gömleği koklamaktadırlar. Ancak Yûsuf kokusu alabilmek için Yâkub gibi Yûsuf aşkıyla yanmak gerekmektedir.

In his books, Mawlana constantly makes reference to the parable of Yousef, which is the most important and famous tale in Quran. In Mawlanas books, the scent of the shirt of Yousef is used as a symbol to describe haqiqa, the (reality) of being, which is diffused to all the grains of cosmos. It is significant that Mawlana generally understands the scent as the scent of haqiqa and beauty but specifically uses the scent of Yousef as a metaphor in the sense of a divine scent. The scent of Yousef is a curative eye opener for one who is spiritually blind. Additionally, this cure is a tongue saying mysteries of gnosis (marifa) to the soul and that one who has pangs of love asks for this scent and smells all shirts to be able to take the scent of Yousef. However to take the scent of Yousef it is necessary to burn in fire of love of Yousef like Jacop did.
