Bir giriş ve iki bölümden oluşan bu tezin giriş bölümü William James'in hayatı ve genel olarak pragmatizm konularını içermektedir. Birinci bölümde James'in temel felsefi ve epistemolojik görüşlerini anlayabilmek için James'e göre pragmatizm, hakikat, ortak duyu, inanma arzusu, bazı metafizik meseleler ve din, pragmatizm ve din, James'in kişisel inancı gibi konulara yer verilmektedir. İkinci bölümde ise çalışmanın temel konusu olan James'in dini tecrübe ve epistemolojik değerine dair görüşleri bir araya getirilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır.This study attempts to analyze and interpret William James? views on the epistemological value of religious experience. It is composed of an introduction and two main chapters. The introduction deals with James? biography and the philosophy of pragmatism in general terms. The first chapter, in attempt to describe James? thoughts as to some philosophical and epistemological issues, discusses his conception of such issues as pragmatism, truth, the common sense, the will to believe, some metaphysical problems versus religion and pragmatism versus religion, and finally James? personal belief.
