Sınıf Fen Bilimleri dersinde yer alan "Işık ve Ses" ünitesine ait ''Işığın Yansıması'' konusunun öğretilmesindeOrtak Bilgi Yapılandırma Modeli (OBYM)'yi esas alan öğretim materyalinin, uygulanması ve modelin öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına, eleştirel düşünme becerilerine ayrıca kavramsal anlamalarına ve bilimin doğası görüşlerine olan etkisinin araştırılmasıdır. Çalışmada yarı deneysel yöntem kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini 2014-2015 Eğitim Öğretim yılında Karaman il Merkezinde yer alan Alparslan Ortaokulundaki 6. Sınıf öğrencilerinden 31 kontrol grubu, 33 deney grubu olmak üzere toplam 64 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada veri toplama araçları olarak; Işık Konusu Başarı Testi (IKBAT), Işık Konusu Eleştirel Düşünme Testi (IKEDT), Işık Konusu Kavramsal Anlama Testi (IKKAT), Bilimin Doğası Görüşler Anketi (BİDGA), sınıf içi gözlemler kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen nicel verilerin değerlendirilmesinde; bağımsız t-testi kullanılmıştır. Nitel verilerin değerlendirilmesinde ise içerik analizi ve betimsel analiz kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın sonunda elde edilen bulgular incelendiğinde OBYM'nin 6. Sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik başarı ve eleştirel düşünme becerilerini artırdığı ayrıca öğrencilerin bilimin doğası ve kavramsal anlamaları üzerinde pozitif etkilerinin olduğu görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin bilimin doğası hakkında çeşitli görüşlere sahip olduğu fark edilmiş ve OBYM'nin bu görüşleri yeterli seviyeye ulaştırmada faydalı olduğu tespit edilmiştir.The purpose of this study is to research the effect of applying the educational material based on Common Knowledge Construction Model (CKCM) to teach the subject The Reflection of Light in the unit "Light and Sound" which takes place in 6th Grade Science lesson and on students' academical success, critical thinking skills, conceptual comprehension and their opinions about the nature of science. Quasi-experimental method was used. The sample of the study consisted of 64 6th grade students who attend at Alparslan Secondary School, 31 of whom were the control group and 33 of whom were the experiment group. Success Test on The Light Topic (IKBAT), Critical Thinking Test On The Light Topic (IKEDT), Conceptual Comprehension Test on The Light Topic (IKKAT), Questionnaire For The Opinions About The Nature of Science (BİDGA) and classroom observation were used as the data collection tools in the study. For the evaluation of quantitative data obtained in the study, independent t-test was used. For the evaluation of qualitative data, content analysis and descriptive analysis were used. When the findings obtained at the end of the study were examined, CKCM was found useful as it increased the academical success and the critical thinking skills of the 6th grade students. Moreover, it was observed to positively affect the students' opinions about the nature of science and their conceptual comprehension.
