Bu döneme Cahiliye denme sebebi Arapların İslamiyet'ten önceki ve sonraki durumlarını ayırt etmek içindir. İslamiyet'i anlamak istiyorsak Cahiliye Dönemi'ni her açıdan bilmemiz ve incelememiz gerekir. Bu sebeple Cahiliye Dönemi ile ilgili çeşitli araştırmalar yapılmış ve eserler yazılmıştır. Bu çalışmada İsmail Hami Danişmend'in İzahlı İslam Tarihi Kronolojisi eseri bağlamında Cahiliye Dönemi ile ilgili araştırmacıların görüşleri ve tespitlerine yer verilmiştir. Bu çalışma ile Arabistan Bölgesi'nin İslamiyet'ten önceki coğrafi, kültürel, ekonomik, dini, siyasi yapısı incelenmiştir. Böylelikle İslamiyet'in nasıl bir ortamda ortaya çıktığı izah edilmiştir.The period of Ignorance is the name given to the period before the emergence of Islam in the Arabian region. The term 'Ignorance' was used to distinguish between the situations of Arabs before and after Islam. If we want to understand Islam, we need to know and study the era of ignorance from all perspectvy. For this reason, various researches were carried out and Works were written about this period. In this study, the views and determinations of the researchers about the period of Ignorance are included in the context of İsmail Hami Danişmend's explanatory chronology of Islamic History. With this study, information about the geographical, cultural, economic, religious and political structure of the Arabian region before Islam was researched.
