The information stored in temples in the past has turned into an act of storing in a specialized space and sharing when necessary. The development of technology and the changes in the wishes and requirements of the users have led to the creation of various spaces in the library buildings according to the "human-oriented design" approach. The 21st century library buildings have become learning centers that serve the functions of producing, storing and sharing knowledge and new ideas in a social space, in addition to their storage and reading functions. In this study, it is aimed to determine today's library architecture by analyzing the 21st century library buildings through the determined architectural design criteria. Within the scope of the thesis, the change of library buildings from past to present has been described by literature research and scientific studies, and six library buildings built in the 21st century, five from the world and one from Turkey, have been analyzed spatially in accordance with the determined criteria. In the study, the functional relations of the library spaces, the relationship between the library and the immediate environment, the layout of the space, the interior design and the facade layout were examined. As a result of the analyzes made, some of the results about the 21st century library buildings are as follows; - In addition to teamwork-oriented learning spaces and spaces for social interaction, it has been observed that the use of spaces in traditional libraries continues. - Designs with cultural and symbolic value were included in order to make the library an “interesting place”. - Vertical circulation has been solved at many points in the building so that it can be seen easily, while horizontal circulation has become flexible spaces with open plan layout with the clear resolution of the carriers and axes. - The importance given to natural lighting and ventilation has increased, providing orientation for the interior setting. However, according to the climatic conditions, the opening made on the facade and the roof has changed. - The library is located in the center of the green area, main pedestrian roads and the car park, and the green area is integrated with the building with terrace and roof garden solutions.
