With the role of parent, the individual takes the responsibility of a living creature and prepares his child for life. In this process of raising their child, the parent may experience conflicts with other people from time to time and may face situations where stress arises. The fact that the child is born with special needs increases the issues with which he is in conflict with his environment. While the conflict process of stressful situations between people may occur, how they give meaning to these situations and the emotions that arise in the individual are effective in the process of resolving conflicts. In this study, the relationship between conflict resolution styles and cognitive emotion regulation strategies of parents with and without special needs children is investigated. The study group consists of 268 parents with special needs children and 273 parents without special needs children, a total of 541 parents residing in Konya. The questionnaire to collect data is formed by Conflict Resolution Styles Form prepared by the Ohio Conflict Resolution Commission which is adapted to Turkish by Sargın, Tor, Bozoğlan and Köroğlu (2007), and Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies Scale developed by Garnefski et al (2002) which is adapted to Turkish by Onat and Otrar (2010). Since the data obtained in the analysis of the data showed normal distribution, t-test and correlation analysis techniques from parametric statistical techniques were used. The findings of the study shows that there is a significant relationship between cognitive emotion regulation strategies and conflict resolution styles. The findings were discussed in the light of the literature and suggestions were made according to the results.
