Levinas'ın Öteki Etiği Perspektifinden Tolstoy'un Diriliş Romanı

Bu çalışmada Tolstoy’un Diriliş romanı Levinas’ın öteki etiği açısından analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı Levinas’ın düşüncesindeki Tolstoy etkisini Diriliş romanı üzerinden araştırmaktır. Levinas’ın öteki etiğini roman üzerinden incelemenin gerekçeleri Levinas’ın çalışmalarında edebi eserlere atıflar yapması, özellikle Rus romanlarının felsefeye hazırlık niteliğinde okunabileceğini söylemesidir. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde Levinas’ın öteki etiği öncesi düşünceleri ele alınmıştır. İkinci bölümde Diriliş romanı Levinas’ın bütünlük eleştirisi ve yüz kavramı üzerinden analiz edilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde Levinas’ın etik öznesi, başkasını merkeze alan sorumluluk, Tanrı düşüncesi ve etik-adalet ayrımı üzerinden Diriliş romanı incelenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda Levinas’ın bütünlük eleştirisine benzer biçimde romanda da kurumsal sistemler eleştirilerek bireyselliğe vurgu yapılmakta, Levinas’ta olduğu gibi sistemlerin bireylere özellikle de öteki olarak nitelendirilebilecek bireylere tahakküm ettiği görülmektedir. Romanda ötekinin yüzünün başkasının sorumluluğunu almada kritik rol oynadığı görülmektedir. Romanın ana karakterinin Levinas’ın etik öznesine örnek oluşturması başkasının sorumluluğunu almasında, bu sorumluluğu kendini ihmal edecek derecede ileri götürmesinde görülmektedir. Levinas, Tanrı ile ilişkilerini başkasının sorumluluğu üzerinden ele alır. Aynı şekilde romanda başkasının sorumluluğunu alan ana karakterin Tanrı ile ilişkileri ötekinin sorumluluğu üzerinden yeniden şekillenmektedir. Levinas, etiğin gözetiminde olmayan bir adaletin zulme dönüşeceğini söyler. Romanda da ötekinin sorumluluğunu alan kimselerin adaleti sağlamadaki rolü vurgulanmaktadır. Bütün bu benzerlikler göz önüne alındığında Levinas’ın öteki etiğinde Tolstoy’un Diriliş romanının etkisi olduğu söylenebilir.

In this study, Tolstoy's Resurrection novel has been analyzed in terms of Levinas' ethics of the other. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of Tolstoy on Levinas' thought through the Resurrection Novel. The reasons for examining Levinas' ethics of the other through the novel are that Levinas makes references to literary works in his works, says that especially the Russian novel can be read as a preparation for philosophy. In the first part of the study, Levinas' thoughts are discussed before his ethics of the other. In the second part, the Resurrection was analyzed through Levinas' critique of the concept of totality and face. In the third chapter, Resurrection has been examined through the ethical subjectivity, responsibility centered on the other, the thought of God and the distinction between ethics and justice. The following results were obtained in the study: İnstitutional systems have been criticized and individuality has been emphasized in the novel, similar to Levinas' criticism of totality. It is seen that the main character of the novel sets an example for ethics of the other and ethical subjectvity and takes other’ responsibility so far as to neglect the responsibility of himselfs. In the novel, it is seen that the face of the other plays a critical role in taking the responsibility of other. Levinas handles his relations with God by taking the responsibility for the others. Likewise, in the novel, the relationship of the main character, who takes responsibility for other, with God is reshaped through the responsibility for the other. Levinas states that justice provided without ethics will turn into oppression. In the novel, the role of people who take responsibility for others by providing justice is emphasized. Considering all these similarities, it can be said that Tolstoy's Resurrection novel has an effect on Levinas' ethics of the other.
