Tefsir Usûlü ve Müfessir Tabakaları bağlamında Tefsir Tarihi olarak iki kısımda ele alınan Tefsir Tarihi adlı eser, tefsir ilminin konusunu, bölümlerini, Kur'an'ın yorum çeşitlerini, Kur'an yorumunda uzmanlık gerektiren alanları, tefsir kitabı yazmış müfessirleri ve onların eserlerini değerlendirmeye almış bir eserdir. Cevdet Bey'in Tefsir Tarihi'nin değerlendirildiği bu çalışmada, eserin orijinal bölümlerine dikkat çekilmiştir. Bergamalı'nın kişisel yorumları bağlamında yapılan değerlendirmelerle dönemin tefsir anlayışı ile eğitim metotları görülebilmektedir. Müfessirlerin ve eserlerinin, detaylı tanıtımından çok müellifin yorumları üzerinde değerlendirme yapılmıştır. Bir ders kitabı niteliğinde değerlendirilebilecek olan orta hacimli bu eserin, tefsirden ziyade Kur'an-ı Kerim'in doğru açıklanması için gerekli olan bilgileri içerdiğini söylemek, çalışmayı daha da araştırmacı hale getirmektedir. Kısaca usûl anlamında Kur'an'ın doğru yorumlanması için bir kaynak, tarih anlamında müfessirlerin değerlendirildiği bir araştırmanın tahlilidir.

The work of History of Tafsir, which consists of two sections named Tafsir Methods and Degrees of Interpreters, is a work which evaluates the theme of tafsir, its sections, the interpretation variety of Quran, the spcialties needed in the tafsir of Quran, the mufassirs who wrote an tafsir book and their work. In this work in which Cevdet Bey of Bergama's History of Tafsir is evaluated, attention is drawn to the original scripture. In the evaluation of personal commentary of Cevdet Bey of Bergama the understanding of tafsir and education methods of that period can be apprehended. The evaluation is made on the mufassir's commentary rather than giving a detailed description of the mufassir and the work itself. This moderate volumed work, which can be evaluated as a textbook, includes the necessary information in order to interprete Quran correctly rather than making a direct interpretation of Quran, enables this reserach to be more investigative. In summary, in the context of methods, this work is a source for interpreting Quran correctly and in the context of history an analysis of a research in which the mufassir's are evaluated.
