Cicero ve Thomas Hobbes'ta devlet ve siyaset

Bu araştırmanın amacı, devlet ve siyaset kavramlarını Marcus Tullius Cicero ve Thomas Hobbes’un bakış açıları üzerinden incelemektir. Devlet ve siyaset kavramları, insanların bir arada yaşamaya başlamasından itibaren tartışılan kavramlardır. Bu anlamda; birbirinden farklı dönemlerde yaşamış olan iki düşünürün konu hakkındaki görüşleri günümüze ışık tutması açısından önem arz etmektedir. Felsefi düşünce açısından tarihsel bir figür olan Cicero’nun görüşleri hiç şüphe yok ki Thomas Hobbes’un görüşlerini oluşturmasında etkili olmuştur. Diğer taraftan her iki düşünürün yaşadığı dönemlerin birbirinden farklı olması görüşlerini de farklılaştırmıştır. Cicero kendi devleti olan Roma İmparatorluğu’nun güçlü bir döneminde yaşadığından devlet ve siyaset konusundaki fikirlerini Roma İmparatorluğu’nu referans göstererek şekillendirirken, Thomas Hobbes, devletinin bunalımlı bir döneminde yaşadığından devlet ile ilgili görüşlerini olması gerektiğini düşündüğü devlet görüşü üzerinden şekillendirmiştir. Bu anlamda iki düşünürün görüşlerini bir arada değerlendirmek devlet ve siyaset felsefesinin geçirdiği aşamaları incelemek bakımından önem arz etmektedir.

The aim of this research is to examine the concepts of state and politics from the perspectives of Marcus Tullius Cicero and Thomas Hobbes. The concepts of state and politics have been discussed since the beginning of human communities living together. In this sense; The views of two thinkers who lived in different periods from each other on the subject are important in terms of shedding light on the present. The views of Cicero, who is a historical figure in terms of philosophical thought, undoubtedly influenced the formation of Thomas Hobbes' views. On the other hand, the fact that the periods in which both thinkers lived differed from each other. Since Cicero lived in a strong period of his own state, the Roman Empire, he shaped his ideas on the state and politics by referring to the Roman Empire, while Thomas Hobbes shaped his views on the state, as he lived in a depressed period of his state. In this sense, it is important to evaluate the views of the two thinkers together in terms of examining the stages of state and political philosophy.
