Covıd-19'un turizm faaliyetlerine etkisi: Türkiye örneği

İnsanlık tarihi boyunca pek çok salgın hastalık ortaya çıkmış ve bu salgınlardan bazıları bölgesel olarak etkili olup etkileri geçici iken bazıları ise pandemi halinde tüm dünyayı etkileyerek insanlık tarihinde pek çok sonuç doğurmuştur. Bu salgın hastalıklardan en son yaşanılan COVID-19 salgınıdır. COVID-19 kısa süre içinde dünyanın hemen hemen her yerinde görülmüş ve başta turizm sektörü olmak üzere her sektörü etkilemiştir. Bu çalışma salgından en çok etkilenen sektörlerden olan turizm sektörü üzerinde COVID-19’un etkisini araştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. BIST 100 endeksinde işlem gören ve Turizm sektöründe faaliyet gösteren 8 şirketin incelendiği çalışmada 2008-2021 yılları arasında şirketlerin yayınladığı finansal tablolardan yararlanarak bazı finansal göstergeler elde edilmiş ve panel veri regresyon analizi yapılmıştır. Bağımlı değişken olan faaliyet karlılığı üzerinde bağımsız değişkenlerin etkisi incelenmiş ve işletmelerin finansal yapısının güçlü olmasının önemi ortaya çıkmıştır. 21. yüzyılda artan salgın hastalıklara yenisinin eklenme olasılığı, büyük savaşların yaşanma ihtimalleri, doğal afetlerin her zaman yaşanma riski turizm sektörünün ihtiyatlı olma ihtiyacını artırmakla birlikte işletmelerin finansal yapılarının güçlü olması olası şoklara karşı işletmeleri daha dirençli yapmaktadır.

Many epidemics have been seen throughout the history of humanity, and some of these epidemics are regionally effective and their effects are temporary, while others have affected the whole world as a pandemic and have had many consequences in the history of humanity. The most recent of these epidemics is the coronavirus epidemic. The coronavirus was seen in almost all parts of the world in a short time and affected every sector, especially the tourism sector. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of coronavirus on the tourism sector, which is one of the sectors most affected by the epidemic. BIST 100 In the study, in which 8 companies operating in the tourism sector were examined, some financial indicators were obtained by using the financial statements published by the companies between the years 2008-2021 and panel data regression analysis was performed. The effect of the independent variables on the operating profitability, which is the dependent variable, was examined and the importance of the strong financial structure of the enterprises was revealed. The possibility of adding new epidemics to the increasing epidemics in the 21st century, the possibility of major wars, the risk of natural disasters to occur all the time, increase the need for the tourism sector to be cautious, and the strong financial structures of the enterprises make the enterprises more resistant to possible shocks.
