The effects of these technologies on some physical and chemical properties of olive oil have been examined with focus on phenolics in olive oil. The aim was to evaluate the combined effect of MW and US applications and E to olive paste by comparing with conventional production. The secoiridoids were present with lower values in US applied samples; as an example, the amount of 3-4-DHPEA-EDA in US treated sample was 59.36 mg kg(-1) oil, whereas its amount was 92.36 mg kg(-1) in the sample of conventional extraction. US resulted in the highest decrease (62%), and MW+US condition resulted in the lowest decrease (25.7%) in terms of total phenolics content. The US and MW pretreatments resulted in more advantageous properties in terms of free acidity, peroxides, and phenolics when applied together than their single applications.Öğe INVESTIGATION OF COMBINED ULTRASOUND AND MICROWAVE PRETREATMENTS AND ENZYME ADDITION ON THE MAIN PHENOLICS AND SOME QUALITY PARAMETERS OF OLIVE OIL(Akademiai Kiado Zrt, 2018) Acar, A.; Arslan, D.Olive oil was obtained by applying laboratory scale microwave (MW) and ultrasound (US) technologies and enzymes (E) after olive crushing and malaxation. Materials and Methods: The study consisted of 27 patients with persistent postpartum bleeding due to uterine atony which was unresponsive to medical treatment. The patients were treated with infinity compression sutures that passed through entire uterine wall on which the placenta was located and were knotted within uterine cavity. Demographic properties, complications, operative results are demonstrated. Results: Uterine bleeding was controlled in 26 of 27 cases (%96.3). Total abdominal hysterectomy was performed in only one patient who had persistent incision site bleeding and disseminated intravascular coagulation. Conclusion: Uterine atony is an emergency and early intervention is necessary. As indicated by the preliminary results, the new technique effectively stopped bleeding in 96.3% of cases; no other techniques were carried out additionally. The technique is promising with properties as easy applicability, safety, and absence of major complications. A larger study is needed for further comparison of operative results.Öğe A new surgical approach for the management of severe postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony: preliminary results in 27 cases(I R O G Canada, Inc, 2015) Acar, A.; Karatayli, R.; Sayal, B.; Elci, A.Purpose of investigation: To demonstrate a new suturing technique that effectively reduces severe postpartum hemorrhage secondary to uterine atony. A.; Gumus, M.; Acar, A.Objective: In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of peripheral blood parameters and the systemic inflammatory index (SII) in the dia gnosis of hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) and whether they have a predictive value in determining the length of hospital stay and the risk of rehospitalization in HG cases.Materials and methods: In the retrospective study, pregnant women who were hospitalized due to HG (n = 112) and pregnant women who were completely healthy (n = 112) were matched for gestational age. Peripheral blood inflammation parameters of the entire study group were evaluated. The length of hospital stay and rehospitalization rate for HG cases were recorded. A total of 224 patients, 112 (50%) in the control group and 112 (50%) in the HG group were included in the study. There was a positive correlation between increased ketonuria and length of hospitalization, peripheric blood parameters, and SII. The degree of ketonuria was found to be statistically insignificant in determining the risk of rehospitalization (p = 0.927). About 28.57% (n = 32) of all HG cases were readmitted to the hospital. When the length of hospital stay was considered, SII was found to be statistically significant in hospitalizations lasting more than 2 days (p = 0.001), but not in rehospitalizations (p = 0.3).Conclusion: SII is significant in dia gnosing and determining hospitalization of HG. It is sufficient to determine the length of hospital stay but not rehospitalization risk, which is an indicator of disease severity.Öğe A safe procedure for myomectomy during cesarean section(7847050 Canada Inc, 2019) Ercan, F.; Pekin, A.; Sarikaya, M.; Kilic, F.; Balci, O.; Gorkemli, H.; Acar, A.Purpose of Investigation: A retrospective cohort study was performed to identify whether myomectomy at the time of cesarean delivery leads to an increased risk of intrapartum and short-term postpartum complications. The authors' aim is to investigate the short-term outcomes of women who have undergone a cesarean myomectomy.Materiais and Methods: This study included the cases that had undergone cesarean myomectomy between January, 2008 and December, 2015. Two hundred twenty-seven pregnant women with uterine myomas who delivered via cesarean section were identified. One hundred two women underwent cesarean myomectomy. The authors compared the maternal characteristics, type of myomas, neonatal weight, and operative outcomes between the two groups. Results: Two group analysis revealed that there were no significant differences in the mean hemoglobin change (1.5 +/- 1.0 vs. 1.2 +/- 0.9 mg/dL), and the length of hospital stay (3.9 +/- 1.2 vs. 3.3 +/- 1.4 days) between two groups. The operative time of myomectomy group was significantly longer (88.5 +/- 19.5 vs. 58.0 +/- 20.4 min, p <0,01), No patient in either group required hysterectomy or embolization. Conclusions: Myomectomy during cesarean delivery does not appear to result in an increased risk of intrapartum or short-term postpartum morbidity.Öğe A safe procedure for myomectomy during cesarean section(7847050 Canada Inc, 2019) Ercan, F.; Pekin, A.; Sarikaya, M.; Kilic, F.; Balci, O.; Gorkemli, H.; Acar, A.Purpose of Investigation: A retrospective cohort study was performed to identify whether myomectomy at the time of cesarean delivery leads to an increased risk of intrapartum and short-term postpartum complications. G.; Acar, A.; Yildirim, M. S.The purpose of this study was to determine the spectrum of the most common mutations in the familial Mediterranean fever gene (MEFV) in Turkish patients from the Central Anatolia region, by using two different methods for detecting FMF-associated mutations with different screening panels, and compare our results with other diagnostic molecular genetics centers. A total of 1579 patients were analyzed. Genomic DNA from 304 patients was tested for 6 common mutations located in exon 2 (E148Q), and exon 10 (M680I, M694V, M694I, V726A, R761H) by real-time PCR while 1275 patients were tested for 17 mutations located in exon 2 (E148Q), and exon10 [M680I (G/C), M680I (G/A), I692del, M694V, M694I, K695R, V726A, S675N, G678E, M680L, T681I, M694L, K695M, R717S, I720M, V722M] by pyrosequencing. The most frequent mutation was M694V, followed by M680I, E148Q, and V726A. Ten mutations in the panel were not detected in any patients. Finally, we compared our results with those of other centers in Turkey to contribute to the identified spectrum of Turkish MEFV mutations and we discuss which MEFV mutations are informative for evaluating an FMF patient.
