Öğe Design and analysis of an improved single-phase QUASI-Z-source inverter(Yildiz Technical Univ, 2023) Endiz, Mustafa Sacid; Akkaya, RamazanIn recent years, the traditional power inverter systems have been replaced by the modern impedance source inverter (ZSI) circuit topology which became highly popular due to many benefits such as voltage boosting ability, reduced cost, flexibility, and, less sensitivity to electromagnetic noises. This paper presents an improved single-phase quasi-Z-source inverter (qZSI) circuit model. The input inductor of the qZSI circuit has been replaced by a switched-inductor (SL) configuration which is integrated into DC power source and impedance network. The proposed circuit can make use of the stored DC power with the help of the SL form within the shoot-through time interval. In comparison with the conventional qZSI topology, the proposed model increases the boost factor of the qZSI circuit significantly for the same shoot-through time. In addition to that, the circuit draws continuous input current and shares common ground with DC power source. The operation principle is analyzed with the help of the mathematical equations and simulations are carried out using Matlab/Simulink environment. A laboratory prototype is realized to validate the proposed circuit. Simulation and experimental results are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed inverter topology. The presented circuit model is open to new developments and can be used for low power applications such as photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell systems.Öğe Design and analysis of an improved single-phase QUASI-Z-source inverter(Yildiz Technical Univ, 2023) Endiz, Mustafa Sacid; Akkaya, RamazanIn recent years, the traditional power inverter systems have been replaced by the modern impedance source inverter (ZSI) circuit topology which became highly popular due to many benefits such as voltage boosting ability, reduced cost, flexibility, and, less sensitivity to electromagnetic noises. Simple boost PWM control technique has been employed to the switches using NUCLEO-F411RE development board since this technique doesn't involve low-frequency ripples on the passive components of the impedance network and has lower distortions at the output. It has been shown that the developed QZSI circuit can work as a buck-boost converter at different shoot-through duty ratios. At the output of the circuit up to 300W, the AC output voltage is obtained with 85% efficiency. It has been observed that simulation and experimental results carried out in the laboratory environment are compatible.Öğe A Modified Quasi-Z-Source Inverter with Enhanced Performance Capability(Int Journal Renewable Energy Research, 2020) Endiz, Mustafa Sacid; Akkaya, RamazanThis paper proposes a modified single phase quasi-Z-source inverter (qZSI) with enhanced performance capability. The total harmonic distortion (THD) values of output voltage and current are reduced differently using the unipolar pulse width modulation (PWM) technique. In addition, the voltage gain ability of the circuit is improved with the help of an additional boost switch connected in parallel with the impedance network and power MOSFETs. The employment of the unipolar PWM technique adapted for the qZSI is explained and the operating principle of the proposed circuit with the additional boost switch is described using mathematical expressions. Simulations are carried out to show the effectiveness of the circuit for a determined modulation index using Matlab/Simulink environment. Compared with the classical qZSI topologies, the presented circuit has lower THD and increased voltage gain.
