Öğe Investigation of shoreline change rates using the digital shoreline analysis system in Lake Bey?ehi?r, Turkey(Ist Nazionale Di Oceanografia E Di Geofisica, 2022) Gumus, M. G.; Durduran, S. S.; Gumus, K.This study was aimed to investigate the temporal and geometric shoreline change rates in Lake Bey??ehir, which is the largest freshwater lake in Turkey, using the Digital Shoreline Analysis System and remote sensing techniques. Therefore, the multitemporal Landsat satellite images for 1984, 1990, 1996, 2000, 2006, 2014, and 2018 were used. The shoreline maps of the study area were produced from the obtained satellite images, and the shoreline change rates for the previous years were calculated using two different methods. As a result of the study, according to the end point rate and linear regression rate statistics, the highest average coastal erosion rate was determined to be-12.03 m/yr with shoreline withdrawal of 409.06 m in a 35-year period, and the highest average coastal accretion rate was determined to be 5.86 m/yr with shoreline advance of 178.36 m. In addition, trend and drought analyses were applied to the annual average meteorological data (temperature and precipitation) from 1970 to 2018, which were obtained from the Bey??ehir Meteorological Observation Station located in the study area. The results of these analyses were used to determine whether the temperature and rainfall changes over the years have had an effect on the temporal and geometric coastline changes in Lake Bey??ehir.Öğe Satellite-based investigation of drought effect on vegetation health index: Beysehir-Kasakli Sub-Basin, Turkey(Ist Nazionale Di Oceanografia E Di Geofisica, 2023) Gumus, M. G.; Durduran, S. S.In this study, drought status analyses of Beysehir-Kasakli Sub-Basin were carried out in the 35-year period (1984-2018) using remote sensing techniques, and accordingly, climate change factors were investigated. In this context, Landsat TM, ETM+, and OLI/TIRS were used. LST, NDVI, VCI, TCI, and VHI indexes were used as satellite-based drought monitoring techniques. Drought analyses were examined separately both for the basin in general and for the immediate surroundings of the Beysehir and Seydisehir districts, the two largest districts of the basin. According to the results of drought categories evaluated by the VHI, Beysehir and its surroundings and the entire basin underwent the highest droughts in 1985, 2000, and 2006. For Seydisehir and its surroundings, 1985, 1996, and 2000 were found to be the highest drought years. In addition, we sought to determine by variance analyses whether there is a statistically significant difference between the result values of VHI for different years. When the results of parametric and non-parametric variance analyses are examined, both variances show a statistically significant difference between VHI values for different years according to the analysis method.
