| dc.description.abstract | This study is carried out to put forward with examples the mentality of us versus them, which is based on the French intelligentsia's opposition of Islam and Muslim, departing from the theory of in-groups and out-groups posed by Sumner. It is seen that mainly the media, politics and intellectuals are in efforts to make the Muslims the others of France in line with the understanding of foreign groups in the country. In this way, there appears a discrimination between the inner culture bound to the Christian-Jewish culture and values represented by them and the outer group consisting of Muslims that adopts the Oriental culture, which is underdeveloped due to Islam. The inner group's perception of the outer group is through prejudice and stereotypes from which discrimination arises. | en_US |
