Interest in childhood, which constitutes a new research area in sociological studies, has increased especially in the post-1980 period. The emergence of this interest has been influenced by the study of micro-scale issues in sociology. On the other hand, seeing the child as an individual in the family, especially after this period, has an important share in the formation of this interest. International organizations such as UNICEF, which emerged with the reshaping of the world order after the Second World War, fulfilled important functions in this regard by ensuring awareness on the education, protection and rights of children. Berry Mayall aimed to examine childhood sociologically in the History of Childhood Sociology. Mayall, who seeks to add depth to the studies of childhood sociology, handles in detail how childhood discussions are made with examples from different countries.en_US
