Özet
Within Saltukname, which was prepared by Ebu'ul Rumi with the order from Cem Sultan and compiled through the oral sources in seven years (1473-1481), the heroic deeds of Sari Saltuk (Yellow/Blonde Saltuk) which he achieved with his horse Ankabil and his wooden sword is represented. Furthermore, it is also possible to find information about historic characters such as Nasreddin Hoca, Deck Korkut, Cengiz Han, Timur, Alaadin Keykubat, Ertugrul Gazi, Osman Gazi Yildirim Beyazit, Sultan Mehmet and Cem Sultan in Saltukname. The rites of passage, which is a folkloric term includes the birth, marriage and death customs. Unfortunately, during the Republic period, while the oral sources of folklore were being researched, one of the written sources, Saltukname, was not taken into account in this respect. Within Saltukname, two concepts regarding the marriage customs are noteworthy. The first of these is halm (leave). The bride asks the young man who wants to marry her huma kusu, sigircik suyu, and gevher-i sebcerag as kalin. The second concept is besuk kurtmesi (betrothal in the cradel) The information about the birth customs is the one found regarding the asmani yesim tap, (light blue jade stone), whose grounds do not receive lightning bolts, placed in Ak Genii (White Mosque) located in Edirne, lies in the sentence kanki avrat ol tasi yalasa oglana hamile kalurdi (when an infertile woman licks that stone, she gets pregnant for a boy). In death customs, Server's yidi ye kirk gun (seven and forty days) mourning is mentioned. In this article, the matters noticed in marriage, birth and death customs will be evaluated using various sources. With the help of this study, Saltukname will have the chance to be studied from the point of rites of passage. Thus, we have the opportunity of enlarging this topic by a third study in addition to the previous ones carried out on Ham Bektas Veli Velayetnamesi and Danisment Ahmet Gazi legend.
