dc.description.abstractThe geological structure in Konya and surroundings, due to the impact of underground waters and tectonics movements, has witnessed many sinkholes formations. According to their time of formations sinkholes are categorized as old and new formations. There has been an increase in sinkholes formations within Konya base. In the increase in sinkholes information, arid to sub arid climate conditions as well as human factors have an impact. Sinkholes formations have been affecting human activities both positively and negatively throughout history. The fact that sinkholes formations have increased in recent years has begun to have a negative effect on agricultural activities and transhumance. That's why, geological-geophysical surveying based risk maps should be created in the areas where sinkholes have formed, tracked and local people informed regularly. The present study is about recent pothole formations, their morphometric features, and distributions.en_US
