Özet
The aim of this study is to analyze the historical development of Shiism in general, and Ismailism, in particular, in and around the regions which were previously called as Khorasan, Transoxiana, Mavaraunnahr, Turkistan, Toharistan, Badakhshan. The study focuses on the historical development rather than doctrinal development of Shiism. The regions in Arabian sub-continent, Iraq and south-west Iran are not included in the study. The study mainly points out the Ismailis of Badakhshan who are the present representatives of Ismailism and spread into Khorasan and Transoxiana in first half of the 19th century, and the roles of Nasir-i Khusraw and Ahmad-i Yasawi, and their tradition. While preparing this study, the main experts of the subject like Ivanow, Stern, Lewis, Madelung, Daftary were referred to, besides the main sources like Tarikh al-Taberi, Siyasat-nama, el-Kamil fi't-Tarih, Kitab el-Fihrist, Tarikh-i Bukhara, which are actually non-direct witnesses of the era they were written in and partly one-sided sources because they were written by the writers who were close to the palace environments. Additionally, the part related to Badakhshan region is based on our own observations and the oral texts collected by us from the region under discussion.
