dc.description.abstractThe language as a unique entity of human being is the most important reflector and carrier of culture from past to future. Language carries traces of the geography and the nation that lives on this geography. It is possible to have an idea about nation's lifestyle, worldview and their culture by looking at the vocabulary of language. Change on the vocabulary means the change on lifestyle, the way of perceiving the world and the culture. Every element comes into use in daily life brings new voices to the vocabulary, and every element that comes out of our life causes the words corresponding to it to extinct. Turkish word saban [plow] is one of the most typical example of this situation. As a tool for soil cultivation, the plow has been used as a plowing tool in agriculture until recently, but with the development of technology today it has come out of great use and left its place to more mechanical tools. This development has accelerated the process of extinction from the language of our word about plowing and plowing elements. In this context, the Compilation Dictionary [Derleme Skill:gil] prepared by the Turkish Language Institute is an important resource in terms of accommodating the forgotten words which are not used in standard written language today. In this study, after giving information about the etymology of the saban and its state in historical and contemporary dialects, the general nomenclature about saban in the Anatolian dialects and the lexical about the naming forms related to the basic parts and parts forming the plow (saban) have been tried to be revealed.en_US
