Özet
Mehekku'l-Ilim ve'l-Ulema is a Classical Ottoman Turkish period work and its author or interpreter is unknown. The work is notable in terms of showing the progress of labial harmony process. This essay aimed to research compound verbs in Mehekku'l-Ilim ve'l-Ulema which is written in Ottoman Turkish period, and contribute to studies in this field. Compoud verb, corresponds a single notion and consists of a noun and an auxiliary verb, or two different verb shapes, or one or multiple noun-originated words and a full verb. Turkish language practices upon compound verb pattern while verbifying foreign originated nouns in a widespread manner. In the work which would be examined, the compound verbs that their first components are mostly foreign originated and limited number of Turkish originated words are used as a noun in such compounds. In this essay, different categorisations on compound verbs are not included elaborately, since this study is carried on through text. Compound verbs on the text is examined in four categories: Compound verbs constructed with auxilary verbs, compound verbs consists of participle and auxilary verbs: complex verbs, compound verbs consists of a noun and full verb, compound verbs consists of gerundium and a verbs: descriptive verbs.
