Öğe Development of a scale to measure quality of life of overweight women(Springer, 2020) Kitis, Yeter; Hisar, Filiz; Hisar, Kemal MacitPurpose This study presents the results of methodological research that derives evaluation items and tests the validity and reliability of the scale to measure quality of life of the overweight women. Methods The scale items were developed by the current researchers directly from the consultation data following a group interviewing process aiming to capture the women's experiences, who are currently receiving primary health care. Pretest interviews were used to ensure that the questions were understood correctly. Six experts determined items for content validity of the scale and the evaluations of experts were scored using a content validity index. The scale is a Likert-type scale, ranging from 1 to 5. The items were tested on a sample of 506 healthy women. The body mass indices of participants were 30 and above. Psychometric analyses included explanatory factor analysis (EFA) and item response theory. Parallel analysis was used to extract factors in EFA. Internal consistency and Spearman Brown split-half test correlation were used for testing reliability. Results The scale was refined as four final dimensions, comprising 40 items as a whole. The result of Bartlett's Test of Sphericity was found sufficient (chi(2) = 14164.92; p < 0.001) and the KMO value was 0.959. This statistically significant value (p < 0.001) indicates that the sampling was sufficient and data had normal distribution. Cronbach's alpha was 0.967. The Spearman Brown coefficient was found to be 0.884. Conclusion It was found that the scale is a valid and reliable assessment tool that can be used to measure the quality of life of overweight women.Öğe Development of the Turkish version of the oral health assessment tool: Methodological study(Wiley, 2023) Genc, Fatma Zehra; Cingil, Dilek; Hisar, FilizAim: This research aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Oral Health Assessment Tool for the Elderly Turkish form. Methods: A total of 262 elderly individuals > 65 years of age were included in the study. These individuals were selected from community-dwelling elderly and nursing home residents in the Konya province of Turkey. A data form containing sociodemographic information and oral health behavior was used to collect the data. In addition, the Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index and the Oral Health Assessment Tool for the Elderly were used. To create the Turkish version of the tool, the form was translated and back-translated for content validity. Expert opinion was obtained for criterion validity. Last, confirmatory factor analysis and exploratory factor analysis were performed to evaluate construct validity. Test-retest reliability, interobserver reliability, and Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficients were calculated. Results: The Tool Turkish form consisted of 10 items and two factors. The Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient was 0.86. The total variance explained by the items was 60.19%, and the test-retest reliability coefficient was 0.95. The content validity index was 0.90, and Kendall's coefficient of concordance was 0.97. The correlation coefficient between the scales is 0.719. The mean Oral Health Assessment Tool for the Elderly score obtained by the participants was 5.4 +/- 4.32 (median 5, min-max: 0-17). Conclusion: The Turkish version of the tool is a valid and reliable tool to assess oral health in community-dwelling elderly individuals and those living in nursing homes.Öğe The effect of disability empathy activity on the attitude of nursing students towards disabled people: a pilot study(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2017) Geckil, Emine; Kaleci, Elanur; Cingil, Dilek; Hisar, FilizBackground: Nurses care for disabled people in society.Objectives: The aim of this experimental study was to investigate the effect of disability empathy activities on strengthening the positive attitudes of nursing students towards disabled people.Design: An experimental study. Pretest-Posttest control group arrangement was used.Methods: This research has been conducted with 116 nursing students (53 experimental and 63 control). The data were collected with Attitudes Towards Disabled Persons Scale (ATDP).Results: Before the experiment, there was no significant difference between ATDP scores of experimental and control groups (p>0.05). After the experiment, second ATDP scores of experimental group (66.8114.27) were found to be significantly higher than the scores of control group (59.02 +/- 11.71) (p=0.002). After six months, third ATDP scores of experimental group (63.58 +/- 13.46) were also found to be higher than the scores of control group (58.43 +/- 11.03) (p=0.025).Conclusions: Empathy activities applied to understand disabled people affected the attitudes of student nurses towards disabled people positively.Öğe Effect of Mentoring Program on Ways of Coping with Stress and Locus of Control for Nursing Students(Elsevier Science Inc, 2014) Demir, Sati; Demir, Sevil Guler; Bulut, Hulya; Hisar, FilizPurpose: This study evaluated the effectiveness of a 14-week mentoring program for first year nursing students and their ways of coping with stress and locus of control. Methods: The study was designed as a quasi-experimental study. Sixty-six first year students (mentees) and 66 fourth year students (mentors) were eligible to be in the mentoring program. Mentors and mentees contacted each other weekly, as required, to provide information and support. In order to determine the efficiency of the mentoring program, a Locus of Control Scale, the Ways of Coping Inventory and Mentoring Assessment Form were filled out by mentees. Results: In this study the mentoring program increased students' internal locus of control and active coping with stress. The increase in internal locus of control showed parallelism with students' behaviors of seeking social support. Conclusion: It is recommended that in nursing schools, the mentoring program be used as an additional program. Copyright (c) 2014, Korean Society of Nursing Science. Published by Elsevier. Instructors can enhance students' professional attitude by organizing the training environment, being a role model, and providing counseling. This study was conducted as a tailoring intervention study over 4 years (2010-2013) examining 73 nursing students (34 intervention, 39 control) to determine the effect of training and counseling on nursing students' professional attitudes. Data were collected utilizing the Introductory Characteristics Form and the Instrument of Professional Attitude for Student Nurses. Intervention group students were provided training and counseling complementing their current education to develop their professional attitudes. Controls proceeded with their current education. Instrument for Professional Attitude for Student Nurses posttest scores of the intervention group were significantly higher than those of control group students. Furthermore, intervention group scores on all subscales other than competence and continuous education significantly increased after training. Controls showed no growth in professional attitudes, other than in contribution to scientific knowledge. The training and counseling program had a positive influence on the professional attitudes of nursing students. Thus, providing tailored training and counseling associated to professionalism throughout the educational process at schools providing nursing training is recommended. (C) 2015 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.Öğe Özel Eğitim Merkezinde Eğitim Gören Engelli Çocukların Evde Bakım Gereksinimlerinin Belirlenmesi(2016) Hisar, Filiz; Abic, ArzuAMAÇ: Bu çalışma özel eğitim merkezinde eğitim gören engelli çocukların evde bakım gereksinimlerini belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarakyapılmıştır: YÖNTEM: Araştırmanın evrenini, Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti 'ndeki (KKTC) özel eğitim merkezleri oluşturmuştur Örneklem seçimi yapılmayıp evrenin tamamı araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır. Veriler "sosyo demografiksoruformu ve "evde bakıma ilişkin soruformu ile, Mart-- 30 Mayıs 2012 tarihleri arasında toplanmıştır:. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde yüzdelik dağılımları, Kuruskal Wallis ve Mann Whitney Utesti kullanılmıştır: BULGULAR: Araştırmada, engelli çocukların %46,5'i 6--10 yaş grubunda, yarıdanfazlasının (%62, 2) erkek ve %36,3 'ünün birdenfazla engeli olduğu saptanmıştır. Çocuğun bakımında, ailelerin %32,3'ünün ekonomik, %27,1'inin bakım, %21'inin psikolojik problem yaşadığı belirlenmiştir. Ailelerin engelli çocuğun bakımında daha çok banyo (%27,3), tuvalet (%21,9) ve giyinip-soyunma (20,3) gibi az bakım uygulamalarında yardıma gereksinim duyduğu saptanmıştır: Engelli çocukların öfke nöbeti geçime (%20, 0), altını ıslatma (%18,8), altına kaka yapma (%15, 0) ve arkadaşlarıyla uyumlu oynayamama (%10,2) gibi sorunlaryaşadıkları ve bu konularda hergün desteğe gereksinimleri olduğu saptanmıştır: Engelli çocukların öz bakım uygulamalarını gerçekleştirme durumlarına göre bakıldığında ise uygulamaların %39, 7'sinin yalnızca ebeveyn tarafından yapıldığı saptanmıştır. Engelli çocukların öz bakım toplam puan ortalamaları ile bazı özelliklerinin karşılaştırılmasına bakıldığında annenin yaşı, babanın yaşı, annenin eğitim durumu, babanın eğitim durumu, aile tipi ve rehabilatasyon merkezine gidiş süresi arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır (p0,05). Engelli çocuğun özbakım toplam puanı ile çocuğun yaşı (0,004) ve engellilik türü (0,000) arasında istatistiksel olarakanlamlı birfark bulunmuştur SONUÇ: Çalışmamızda engelli çocukların yarı bağımlı olması nedeniyle evde bakıma gereksinimlerinin olduğu saptanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları doğrultusunda annelerin evde bakım konusunda eğitilmesi, engelli çocuğun evde bakımının hemşire beraberinde yapılması, engelli çocuğun bakımında ailelere profesyonel kişiler tarafından destekverilmesi önerilebilir.
