Öğe Advancing competitive position in healthcare: a hybrid metaheuristic nutrition decision support system(Springer Heidelberg, 2019) Ileri, Yusuf Yalcin; Hacibeyoglu, MehmetIn the highly competitive environment of healthcare industry, managers incorporate patient centered care as a major component in the healthcare mission. Management information systems have gained increasing attention to develop effective plans for patient centered care, and quality improvement in healthcare organizations. Consumers are becoming actively involved in their health, which is great for patient engagement, but to meet this demand, healthcare providers need to make significant changes. Information technology and artificial intelligence can significantly improve workflows for healthcare professionals, and support the development of new services to meet changing consumer demands while maintaining costs. In this study, we aimed to build a decision support system including Genetic algorithm and Simulated Annealing metaheuristic machine learning methods for nutritionists to regulate a hospitals' nutrition cycle and provide the best possible diet menu solutions while decreasing costs. Our main reason of using hybrid metaheuristic machine learning methods is to obtain a better quality solution on the problem dealt with study. Experimental results showed that; the proposed system is a novel, smart, cost-effective, flexible and machine learning based decision support system for nutritionist and healthcare managers.Öğe COST ANALYSIS OF OBESITY SURGERY AND ITS ECONOMIC BURDEN ON UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS(Nobel Ilac, 2022) Mermer, Dilan; Ileri, Yusuf YalcinObjective: The aim of this study is to determine the service cost of bariatric surgery within the scope of diagnosis-based package price payment which is one of the reimbursement methods in Turkey, and to determine to what extent the reimbursement amount specified in the Health Application Notification covers the service cost. Material and Method: The study is a descriptive and the relevant data were obtained retrospectively. All patients who had bariatric surgery in two university hospitals in Konya/Turkey in 2019 constitute the study population. It was determined that only the services with the P609871 (Obesity, By-pass), P609872 (Obesity, Sleeve) Health Application Notification codes were provided to 70 patients, but the patients who were determined to have different operating codes were excluded from the scope of the study and the study was conducted with 66 patients. Results: In terms of university hospitals, the income-to-expense ratio for obesity bypass surgery is 48.90%, and 39.19% for obesity sleeve surgery. In general, except for the fixed costs for bariatric surgery, the amount paid by Social Security Agency (SSA) within the scope of Health Application Notification covers approximately 40.05% of the cost of university hospitals. It has been determined that the material cost has the highest share among the cost elements. Conclusions: As a result of the cost analysis, it was determined that university hospitals made a loss for the relevant services. It has been concluded that the diagnosis-based package price payment method in university hospitals cannot cover the costs and that threatens the financial sustainability of university hospitals serving with Health Application Notification prices.Öğe DETERMINING THE ATTITUDES TOWARDS HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES: A STUDY IN A UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL(Mehmet Akif Ersoy Univ, 2022) Kaya, Bugra; Ileri, Yusuf YalcinThe aim of the study is to determine hospital workers' attitudes towards health information technologies (HIT) and to examine whether their expectations and usage levels of HIT are significant when compared with the descriptive variables in terms of HIT dimensions. In the study, the Use of Health Information Technologies dimension which is the sub-dimension of the Attitude Scale towards Health Information Technologies Use was utilized. This dimension also has 6 sub-dimensions. Confirmatory factor analysis, normality, reliability, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t test and ANOVA test were used to analyze the data. Study findings presents a significant difference between the hospital workers' occupational status variable and the sub-dimensions of intention of use, self-efficacy, and expectation from HIT (p<0.05). A significant difference was found between the groups of hospital workers in the age variable and the IT staff support and HIT infrastructure sub-dimensions (p<0.05). Similarly, a significant difference was found between the groups in the working time variable of hospital workers in the dimensions of IT staff support, HIT Infrastructure, intention of use, HIT selection and expected participation in the design process and (p<0.05). Study results show that hospital workers' intentions and expectations of using HIT were high but their self-efficacy was low. It is recommended that communication channels should be kept open for hospital workers to receive rapid technical support from IT staff for the problems they experience with HIT and regular HIT trainings should be organized to increase their self-efficacy.Öğe Emotional Intelligence Level of Health Sciences Faculty Students(Springer Int Publishing Ag, 2017) Kaya, S. Didem; Yuceler, Aydan; Ileri, Yusuf YalcinThe individual knows their emotions, being aware of others' emotions and being able to use them effectively in their social and business life is important. Hence, the individual having high emotional intelligence in both their social and business lives enhances their self-knowledge, motivation and communication skills. The study has been conducted with the objective of determining emotional intelligence levels of the students. The study universe consisted of the students studying in Konya Necmettin Erbakan University, Faculty of Health Sciences (health management, social service, nursing), in the academic year 2014-2015. In April 2015, 169 questionnaires in total (81 %) obtained from the students who accepted participating in the study was evaluated. Survey technique was utilized in the study. The questionnaire contained questions involving socio-demographic characteristics of the students (9 questions) and intelligence scale questions (20 questions). The results obtained in the study were evaluated through SPSS statistics program. Descriptive statistical methods and T test, Oneway Anova test was conducted in comparison of the quantitative data. The results were evaluated in the confidence interval of 95 %, and significance was evaluated at the level of p < 0.05. When the results were examined, emotional intelligence scores of the students are seen to be higher than the average.Öğe Implementation Processes of Hospital Information Management Systems: A Field Study in Turkey(World Scientific Publ Co Pte Ltd, 2016) Ileri, Yusuf YalcinOur aim is to reflect our experience of developing and implementing of an integrated Hospital Information Management System (HIMS), its financing contributions, technical and managerial challenges and key designing and planning factors. Following the strategic planning stage, HIMS was implemented into the hospital. Key issues were observed, total training hours and satisfaction levels of staff were followed year by year. Number of patients, surgeries and total income of the hospital were analysed. Cessation of printing radiology films, paper and manpower earnings were calculated. After the implementation of HIMS, total income of the hospital increased 37% in the first year. Total financial savings (paper printing, radiology films and manpower) as a result of HIMS implementation were approximately US$ 1.34 million. HIMS prevents losses and leakages of medical materials, medicines and unnecessary processes in healthcare institutions. For an appropriate implementation of HIMS, healthcare managers should lend priority to seven critical design and implementation issues: (1) effective accessibility, (2) interoperability and integration, (3) ease of use (4) improvement of the quality of processes (5) centralised administration, (6) privacy and digital security, (7) precautions against resistance to IT.Öğe Investigation of Resistance, Perception and Attitudes of Employees against Change in Information Systems Using Change Management Approach: A Study in a University Hospital(World Scientific Publ Co Pte Ltd, 2018) Ileri, Yusuf Yalcin; Arik, OzerThe need for change in the rapidly developing health sector is essential for the provision of quality health care services. In this study, the technological change experienced in the process of transition from the old hospital information management system used in a university hospital to the new hospital information management system was discussed and employees' resistance, perceptions and attitudes to change have been examined through a change management approach.
