Öğe THE INVESTIGATION OF PHYSICIAN'S AND NURSE'S PERCEPTION OF THEIR PROFESSION PRACTICE USING METAPHORICAL ANALYSIS METHODS(Nobel Ilac, 2020) Karadag, Sule; Kaya, Serife DidemObjective: The study was aimed to exhibit the perceptions of physicians and nurses both about their own profession and the other profession comparatively using metaphorical method. Material and Method: In the study, metaphor analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. In order to obtain the most variety with a small sample, maximum variety sampling method was used. A form which consists of four demografic questions and a final question which will allow them to indicate sentences as Physician/nurse is like..... Because... was distributed to 200 participants in order to put forth metaphors which will represent their perceptions both about their own profession and the other profession. Feedback was obtained from a total of 191 participants between December 2017 and March 2018 including 88 physicians, 102 nurses and 1 unstated form who volunteered in the city of Konya from community clinics, state hospitals or private hospitals. Results: Data was sorted and among the semistructured data suitable for analysis, physicians (n= 80) and nurses (n=85) were divided into four groups. Each of these groups were examined separately. The number of produced metaphors are 75 in 8 categories in PhysicianPhysician (P-P) group, 69 in 7 categories in PhysicianNurse (P-N) group, 68 in 8 categories in Nurse-Physician (N-P) group and 72 in 6 categories in Nurse-Nurse (N-N) group. Conclusion: These metaphors (P-P wisdom, diligence, durable, worthless, essential, altruistic, usefulness, P-N= diligence, worthless, P-N conflict, P-N cooperation, discipline, essential, altruism, N-P= wisdom, authority, N-P conflict, N-P cooperation, leadership, essential, durable, healing, N-N= diligence, worthless, discipline, essential, altruism, N-P cooperation) can be used as a guideline for organizing the working conditions of the two groups, which are essential to work together, to provide a more professional infrastructure for the professional relations and for the educational activities to be carried out for this purpose.Öğe Professional Commitment, Satisfaction and Quality of Life of Nurses During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Konya, Turkey(Jimma Univ, Ethiopia, 2022) Kaya, Serife Didem; Mehmet, Nimetcan; Safak, KeremBACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected nurses. The aim of this study was to assess professional commitment, satisfaction and quality of professional life of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic in Konya city, Turkey. METHODS AND MATERIAL: Cross-sectional study was conducted through online survey in March 2021 in Konya province of Turkey. Current working nurses from 30 public health facilities participated in the study. Standard questionnaire was used, the questionnaire has four components, the first part of questionnaire for characteristics of the participants, the second part was Nursing Professional Commitment Scale, the third part was regarding Professional Satisfaction Scale and the fourth part was related to Employees' Quality of Life Scale. RESULTS: Total 407 nurses participated in the study, only 24% of the participants were male, 76% of them were married and 78% of them were undergraduate degree holders. About two-third (68%) of the nurses worked in COVID-19 treatment Unit serving/treating COVID-19 patients during this period Some nurses (37%) have considered leaving their job during the Pandemic. Average scores of total nursing professional commitment 2.63 +/- 0.48. The nurses' working quality of life level was above average of total satisfaction. Comparing the age groups of the participants with the scale and sub-dimensions, a difference was found only with the Compassion fatigue sub-dimension (p<0.05). There is a positive relationship between total nursing professional commitment, compassion satisfaction and professional satisfaction. CONCLUSION: COVID-19 pandemic negatively affected nurses' professional commitment, professional satisfaction and quality of their professional life.Öğe THE RELATIONSHIP OF ORGANIZATIONAL JUSTICE PERCEPTION OF NURSES WITH REVENGE AND FORGIVENESS BEHAVIORS(Mehmet Akif Ersoy Univ, 2021) Tekin, Gulnur; Kaya, Serife DidemThe aim of the study is nurses' perceptions of organizational justice in Turkey, to determine the relationship of revenge and forgiveness behavior and describing this relationship implementing two models. According to TurkStat data the population of the study in 2016, whitch constitutes 152 952 nurses working in Turkey. The sample of the study is 411 nurses. Percentage, mean, standard deviation, t test, ANOVA test, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Model (SEM) were performed. The mean values of the nurses' revenge behavior according to gender; forgiveness behavior according to marital status and age; revenge and forgiveness by years of experience; there was a significant difference between total organizational justice and sub-dimensions according to the unit variable studied (p <0.05). According to SEM path diagrams and the obtained regression values, organizational justice/relationship with superiors positively affected forgiveness behavior by 19% (R2=0,19); it affected the revenge behavior negatively by 13% (R2=0,13); It was concluded that organizational justice/relationship with employees positively affected forgiveness behavior by 16% (R2=0,16), while negatively affecting revenge behavior by 25% (R2=0,25). Both models designed according to the findings are confirmed.Öğe Time Management and Stress Relationship in Terms of Health Sector Employees(Springer International Publishing Ag, 2016) Yuceler, Aydan; Kaya, Serife Didem; Ileri, Yusuf YalcinNowadays, due to rapid changes and developments, business life becomes increasingly complex which yields many employees do lots of works together in a limited time. As a result, time pressure and job stress negatively affect employee productivity. In the context of our study, we have examined the health sector which is one of today's most complex sectors. The success of health manpower is the most important element for the quality of health services. In this manner, as the working environment is more qualified and less troublesome for health staff, patients receive better and more qualified health services. Health sector is a complex industry not only because of the services provided but also very different characteristics of employees working in this sector. Continuously working under time pressure and concerning of human life expose health sector employee's high stress. Experiencing excessive stress adversely affect the performance and success. So, managements should educate their employees on time management and effort to cause less stress to help them do their jobs more effectively. This study is a theoretical study and domestic and foreign literature on the subject has been studied in detail. In subsequent studies, the literature will be supported with a field work.Öğe Unknown Aspect of Compassion Fatigue in Family Caregivers of Elderly: A Phenomenological Study(Sage Publications Inc, 2023) Ceylantekin, Yesim; Kaya, Serife Didem; Cingil, DilekThe study aims to evaluate caregiving emotional state of caregiver family members, their state of experiencing compassion fatigue, and their opinions about effect of compassion fatigue on care. The study was designed using a phenomenological pattern, and 10 volunteer family caregivers were included in the study group. Individual interview technique was used in data collection. Data was analyzed through content analysis with an inductive method and gathered under three themes: (1) opinions of caregivers about emotional status of caregiving to their patients, (2) symptoms of compassion fatigue, and (3) relationship of compassion fatigue and care process. In content analysis conducted on expressions of caregivers about their caregiving to their patients, 8 categories were created under Theme 1, 11 categories are established in the theme of symptoms of compassion fatigue, and 15 categories are created in the theme of relationship of compassion fatigue and care process. Caregivers used codes such as to the best of my ability, sufficiently, as far as possible, remorse.
