Öğe Analogies used in providing basic behaviors in violin education(2018) Kurtaslan, Zafer; Kara, MelikeIn this research, analogies used by violin educators in order toprovide basic behaviors in violin education are identified. As there aremany abstract concepts in violin education, verbal examples given byeducator to transform abstract concepts into perceptible ideas in studentare important. For this reason, analogy method referred frequently ineducational sciences in materializing abstract concepts is used also inviolin education.In the research, analogies used by violin educators at the beginningstages are identified. Overemphasized by educators, they are oriented topositioning of right and left hand according to violin, and body’s being ina natural state suitable for violin. Despite the fact that violin educationis an applied training, educators’ embodying verbal explanations makethe proper practice easier. For this reason, in violin education supportingverbal explanation with analogies in embodying abstract knowledgecontribute to education’s being more permanent and faster.According to the results of the research, analogies used by violineducators for providing basic behaviors are oriented to make body’snatural posture adapt to the instrument according to the technique of it.In addition to this, it is seen that violin educators use way more analogiesoriented to bow holding.The research is descriptive and evaluates the situation. Qualitativeresearch method is used in the research.
