Öğe Attitudes of Turkish Parents Toward Sex Education of Their Intellectual Disability Children(Univ Indonesia, 2022) Sari, Hakan; Pursun, TugbaBackground: Legal regulations in Turkey state that it is a fundamental right for children with intellectual disability to receive sex education. However, such education is highly limited due to the negative attitudes of these children's parents. Therefore, the main aim of this study is to evaluate the attitudes of Turkish parents toward the sexual education of their intellectually disabled children. Methods: This quantitative study used the survey method on 311 parents who have children with intellectual disabilities. Data collection was carried out using a Likert-type scale questionnaire developed by the author. Socio-demographic variables were attained, and the data collected were analyzed. Results: Most of the parents (85%) believe that their children need support for sexual education, but cannot improve themselves to teach such subject without undergoing such education as well. However, the parents appear to have positive attitudes toward sexual education for their intellectually disabled children and believe that it can be provided adequately. Conclusions: Turkish parents have positive attitudes toward sex education for their children intellectual disability children. Therefore, adequate information about sex education might be needed from the professionals to empower the parents.Öğe AN INVESTIGATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS? CREATIVE READING PERCEPTIONS AND THEIR READING MOTIVATION(Univ Cienfuegos, 2023) Pursun, Tugba; Arslantas, Suleyman; Kurnaz, AhmetThe purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between fourth grade students' perceptions of creative reading and their reading motivation, as well as students' perceptions of creative reading and reading motivation in relation to different variables. The study was designed ac-cording to the relational screening model. A convenience sampling method was adopted to determine the sample of 337 fourth grade students. Research data were collected using the Background Information Form, the Creative Reading Perception Scale, and Reading Motivation Scale. The results of the study showed that there is a moderate relationship between students' perceptions of creative reading and their reading motivation. When the creative reading perception scale and reading motivation were evaluated in terms of their total scores, it was de-termined that the students' creative reading perceptions and reading motivations differed significantly according to gender, the income level of the mother's family and the presence of a library at home.Öğe Self and Task Perception towards Visual Arts Course Scale: Validity and Reliability Study(Univ Granada, Fac Ciencias Educacion, 2022) Kurnaz, Ahmet; Temel, Rengin; Arslantas, Suleyman; Pursun, TugbaThis study aims to develop a scale to determine self and task perception of high school students towards visual arts course. In the development process following stages were followed: scanning the literature, examining previously developed scales, creating an item pool, getting expert opinions, doing a pilot study, doing item analysis, test-retest process, and data analysis. 259 high school students from 9th to 12th grades participated in the study and test-retest was conducted on 50 students. Six-factor draft form of the scale was formed by taking Expectancy-Value Theory into consideration. According to the CFA principles the scale has six factors, which are intrinsic value, attainment value/importance, extrinsic value, expectancy belief, task difficulty, required effort. The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficients of six factors were found as 0,77; 0,82; 0,70; 0,87; 0,70 and 0,67 respectively. According to the test-retest results, it was found out that the stability of the scale was high. The results of item analysis according to means of lower-higher groups showed that each item in the scale was distinctive. For the criterion validity, the correlation between the scores obtained from the subscales and the scores obtained from the motivation factor of Motivating Strategies in Learning Scale were examined and it was found that the present scale was correlated with the motivation factor of Motivating Strategies in Learning Scale. It was found that there existed a low, medium, and high correlation among the subscales.
