Özet
Birçok sanat tarihçimize göre XIX. Yüzyıl hat sanatının altın çağıdır. Hat
sanatında kullanılan neredeyse tüm yazı çeşitlerinin en güzel örneklerinin verildiği bu
dönem, Osmanlı coğrafyası için Batı modernleşmesiyle yüzleşmesi açısından kritik bir
öneme sahiptir. Batı modernleşmesinin her alanı etkilediği bu dönemde, hat sanatının
köklü olmasa da klasik dönemden ayrıldığı birçok husus vardır.
En kadim yazı çeşitlerinden biri olan Kûfî yazı, yaklaşık üç yüz elli yıl aradan
sonra XIX. Yüzyılda tekrar rağbet görmüştür. Kûfî yazıya oluşan bu büyük ilgide
Ebüzziyâ Mehmed Tevfik Bey’in önemi büyüktür. Kurduğu matbaasında tabolunan
eserlerde sıklıkla kûfî yazıyı kullanmış olmakla beraber, dini, kamu ve sivil mimaride de
Kûfî yazı çeşidiyle tasarladığı eserleri vardır.
XIX. Yüzyılda farklılaşan sanat anlayışının merkezi konumlarından biride bulunan
Ebüzziyâ Mehmed Tevfik Bey, Kûfî yazı örnekleriyle bize dönemin hat sanatı estetik
anlayışını farklı bir perspektiften bakmamıza olanak sağlamaktadır.
Araştırmamız Ebüzziyâ Mehmed Tevfik Bey’in matbuat ve mimari eserlerde
bulunan yazılarını bir araya getirerek hat sanatı estetiği açısından inceleme yapmak
amaçlanmaktadır.
According to many art historians, XIX. Century is the golden age of calligraphy. This period, in which the best examples of almost all types of writing used in calligraphy are given, has a critical importance for the Ottoman geography in terms of confronting Western modernization. In this period, in which every field of Western modernization was affected, calligraphy is not rooted in many aspects, but there are many aspects that differ from the classical period. Kufi script, which is one of the most ancient types of writing, gained popularity again in the 19th century after approximately 350 years. Ebuzziya Mehmed Tevfik Bey has a great importance in this great interest in Kufic writing. He often used kufic writing in the works published in his own printing house. Besides, he has works in religious, public and civil architecture that he designed with the Kufic script. Ebuzziya Mehmed Tevfik Bey, who was in the center of the understanding of art that differed in the 19th century, allows us to look at the aesthetic understanding of calligraphy of the period from a different perspective with his Kufic script samples. Our research aims to examine Ebüzziya Mehmed Tevfik Bey's writings in the press and architectural works in terms of calligraphy aesthetics.
