Subaylık mesleği tercih mi zorunluluk mu? Yükseköğretim kurumları spor bilimleri alanından mezun subaylar üzerine bir araştırma

Bu çalışmanın amacı, yükseköğretim kurumları spor bilimleri alanından mezun olan subayların subaylık mesleğini seçmelerinin bir tercih mi yoksa zorunluluk mu olduğunu belirlemektir. Bu doğrultuda, subaylık mesleğinin seçiminde etkili olan sebepler, mesleğin avantaj ve dezavantajları arasındaki ilişki, mesleğin toplumdaki imajının etkisi, sporun çeviklik ve dinamizm isteyen subaylık mesleğine etkisi ve spor bilimleri alanından mezun olmanın bu mesleği seçmedeki rolü araştırılmıştır. Araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgubilim (fenomenoloji) araştırma deseni ile değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada fenomenoloji deseninin kullanılma sebebi, araştırmaya katılan subayların deneyimlerinin araştırılması ve söz konusu deneyimler neticesinde detaylı bilgilere ulaşmaktır. Bu nedenle, verilerin elde edilebilmesi amacıyla görüşme yöntemine başvurulmuştur. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Kişisel Bilgi Formu ve Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşme Formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada nitel araştırmalarda en fazla yararlanılan olasılıksız örnekleme yöntemlerinden biri olan amaçlı örnekleme yönteminden ve bu amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinde en çok kullanılan maksimum çeşitlilik örnekleme yönteminden faydalanılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında, 2018-2020 Döneminde Jandarma ve Sahil Güvenlik Akademisi Subay Okulu’ndan mezun olan 16 subay (9 Erkek, 7 Kadın) ile görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Görüşmelerde, katılımcılara subaylık mesleğini seçmelerinde etkili olan sebepler, mesleğin avantaj ve dezavantajları, mesleğin toplumdaki imajının rolü, sporun meslek seçimindeki etkisi ve spor bilimleri eğitiminin bu tercihteki rolü sorulmuştur. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Veriler MAXQDA 24.9 programı vasıtasıyla çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, spor bilimleri alanından mezun olan bireylerin subaylık mesleğini bilinçli bir şekilde tercih ettikleri, subaylık mesleğinin zorluklarına rağmen avantajlarının kendilerinin mesleğe yönelmelerine neden olduğu, spor geçmişinin subaylık mesleği açısından çok önemli olduğu ve bireylerin mesleki başarılarına katkılar sağladığı tespit edilmiştir. Bu kapsamda, spor bilimleri alanından mezun bireyler için subaylık mesleğinde özel kontenjanların açılması, spor kökenli bireylerin JGK bünyesinde sayılarının artırılması subaylık mesleğinin performansı bakımından olumlu gelişmeler sağlayabilir.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether officers who graduate from higher education institutions in the field of sports science choose the military profession as a preference or a necessity. In this context, the reasons influencing the choice of the military profession, the relationship between the advantages and disadvantages of the profession, the impact of the profession's image in society, the effect of sports on the military profession, which requires agility and dynamism, and the role of graduating from the field of sports sciences in choosing this profession were investigated. The research was evaluated using the phenomenology research design, one of the qualitative research methods. The reason for using the phenomenology design in the research was to investigate the experiences of the officers participating in the research and to obtain detailed information as a result of these experiences. For this reason, the interview method was used to obtain data. The Personal Information Form and Semi-Structured Interview Form were used as data collection tools in the research. The study utilized purposive sampling, one of the most commonly used non-probability sampling methods in qualitative research, and the maximum diversity sampling method, which is the most commonly used method within purposive sampling. Within the scope of the study, interviews were conducted with 16 officers (9 male, 7 female) who graduated from the Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Academy Officer School between 2018 and 2020. During the interviews, participants were asked about the reasons that influenced their choice of the officer profession, the advantages and disadvantages of the profession, the role of the profession's image in society, the impact of sports on career choice, and the role of sports science education in this preference. Content analysis was used to analyze the data, which were processed using the MAXQDA 24.9 program. The results of the study revealed that individuals who graduated from sports science programs consciously chose the military profession, that the advantages of the military profession, despite its difficulties, motivated them to pursue it, that their sports background was very important in terms of the military profession, and that it contributed to their professional success. In this context, opening special quotas for individuals with degrees in sports science in the military profession and increasing the number of individuals with a sports background within the JGK could lead to positive developments in terms of the performance of the military profession.
