dc.description.abstractAsayişin sağlanamamasından ve ülkedeki terör hareketinin yükselmesini gerekçe gösteren askerler, 12 Eylül 1980 tarihinde darbe gerçekleştirmişlerdir. 1980-1983 arası dönemde görev yapan askerî hükümet, 1970'li yıllarda ilişkilerin bir hayli sıkıntılı olduğu ABD ile iyi ilişkiler kurmuş ve Orta Doğu politikasında söz sahibi olabilmek için İslam devletleri ile ikili ilişkiler geliştirmiştir. 12 Eylül'ün demokrasiye ve insan haklarına sığmayan uygulamaları, bu dönem içerisinde AET çerçevesinde kurulan ilişkilere tesir etmiş ve ilişkilerin sıkıntıya girmesine neden olmuştur. Bu dönem içerisinde hükümet, Yunanistan'ın NATO'nun askerî kanadına dönüşünü hiçbir kazanç elde etmeden kabul ederek, elindeki büyük bir kozu kaybetmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractUnderlining the failure of public order and the rise of the terrorist movements in the country, the soldiers carried out a coup d'état on September 12, 1980. The military government, which served in the period 1980-1983, improved relations with the United States with which relations were highly distressed previously in the 1970s, and developed bilateral relations with the Muslim states to define the Middle East politics. The non-democratic and human rights practices of post-coup period affected the relations established with the EEC and caused a deterioration in the relations with the western European states. During this period, the Turkish government lost a bargaining chip by accepting return of Greece to NATO's military wing without any compensation.en_US
