Özet
Yumuşak güç, uluslararası konjonktürde aktörlerin etki alanını genişletmek amacıyla yaygın olarak kullandıkları bir araçtır. Çin, uluslararası alanda etkisini artırmak ve gücünü pekiştirmek amacıyla yumuşak gücü bir strateji olarak benimsemektedir. Tezin amacı, Çin’in yumuşak güç politikasını Etiyopya örneği özelinde ne ölçüde başarılı olarak kullandığıdır. Bu ölçütü belirmek için The Soft Power’in (2019) yumuşak gücün uygulanmasında kullandığı altı araçtan yardım alarak Çin’in Etiyopya’ya uyguladığı yumuşak güç uygulamaları tartışılacaktır. Tezin temel varsayımı, Çin'in tarihsel olarak ve günümüzde uluslararası politikadaki pozisyonunu güçlendirmek için yumuşak güçten yararlandığıdır. Etiyopya örneği ise bu varsayımı desteklemektedir. Bu çalışmada, Çin'in Etiyopya bölgesindeki etki alanları, gerçekleştirdiği projeler ve bu projelerle ulaşmayı hedefleri incelemektir.
Soft power is a tool widely used by actors in the international conjuncture to expand their sphere of influence. China has adopted soft power as a strategy to increase its influence and consolidate its power in the international arena. The aim of this thesis is to assess the extent to which China has successfully utilized its soft power policy in the case of Ethiopia. In order to determine this criterion, China's soft power practices towards Ethiopia will be discussed with the help of The Soft Power's (2019) six tools for the implementation of soft power. The basic assumption of the thesis is that China has historically and currently utilized soft power to strengthen its position in international politics. The case of Ethiopia supports this assumption. In this study, China's spheres of influence in the Ethiopian region, its projects and the goals it aims to achieve through these projects will be examined.
