dc.description.abstractSosyobilimsel konular bireylerin farklı pencerelerden bakmalarına olanak sağlayan ve alışılagelmişin dışında fikirler üretmesini sağlayan konulardır. Bu özelliğiyle diğer tartışmalı konulardan ayrılmaktadır. Günümüzde hayatımızı en çok etkileyen sosyobilimsel konularından birisi Covid-19'dur. Ancak gerek ulusal ve uluslararası alan yazında Covid-19 bağlamına dayalı bir sosyobilimsel konu incelemesi yapılmamıştır. Üstelik sosyobilimsel konular ülkemizde daha çok lisans öğrencileriyle yürütülmüştür. Bu çalışmada ise güncel bir sosyobilimsel konu olarak Covid-19 bağlamı seçilmiş ve bu bağlam üzerinden ilkokul öğrencilerindeki değişim ele alınmaya çalışılmıştır. Dolayısıyla bu araştırmanın amacı, ilkokul öğrencilerinin eleştirel düşünme ve karar verme becerilerinin desteklenmesinde sosyobilimsel bir konu olarak Covid-19 temalı içeriklerin etkisini belirlemektir. Bu çalışma Adana ili Seyhan ilçesine bağlı bir ilkokulun 4. sınıfında öğrenim görmekte olan 41 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada nicel araştırma desenlerinden ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır.Araştırmanın veri toplama süreci 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında fen bilimleri dersinde haftada iki ders saati olmak üzere toplam beş hafta süreyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu süreçte deneysel işlemden önce deney ve kontrol gruplarına ön test olarak “İlkokul Öğrencileri İçin Eleştirel Düşünme Eğilimi Ölçeği” ve “İlkokul Öğrencileri İçin Karar Verme Beceri Ölçeği” uygulanmıştır. Deney grubuna haftada iki ders saati olmak üzere beş haftalık sosyobilimsel konu etkinlikleri uygulanmıştır. Uygulamanın ardından her iki gruba da “İlkokul Öğrencileri İçin Eleştirel Düşünme Eğilimi Ölçeği” ve “İlkokul Öğrencileri İçin Karar Verme Beceri Ölçeği” son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Gruplardan elde edilen verilerde anlamlı bir farklılık olup olmadığını belirlemek için betimsel analizler ile bağımsız örneklemler t-testi ve bağımlı örneklemler t-testi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar sosyobilimsel konu içeriklerinin uygulandığı deney grubu öğrencilerinde eleştirel düşünme becerilerinin orta düzeyde gelişim gösterdiğini, karar verme becerilerinin ise gelişmediğini göstermiştir. Ders kitabına uygun eğitim programının uygulandığı kontrol grubundaki öğrencilerin ise karar verme becerilerinin düşük düzeyde olduğu görülmüştür. İlkokul öğrencilerinin eleştirel düşünme becerilerinin desteklenmesinde bu içeriklerin etkili olduğu görülmüş elde edilen sonuçlar literatür ışığında tartışılmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractSocioscientific issues are subjects that allow individuals to look through different perspectives and create ideas that are extraordinary. With this feature, they differ from other controversial issues. One of the socioscientific issues that affect our lives the most today is the Covid-19 pandemic. However, there has not been a socioscientific study based on the context of Covid-19 in nationalor international literature. Socioscientific studies have been carried out mostly with undergraduate students in our country. In this study, the Covid-19 pandemic was selected as a current socioscientific issue and the changes it caused to primary school students were addressed through this lens. Therefore the aim of this research was to determine the effect of Covid-19 themed content as a socioscientific issue in supporting the critical thinking and decision-making skills of primary school students. This study was carried out with 41 students studying in the 4th grade of a primary school in the Seyhan district of the Adana province. In the study, a semi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group was used inquantitative research designs. The data collection process of the study was carried out for a five weeks, including two lessons each week in the science class of the 2021-2022 academic year. In this process, "Critical Thinking Tendency Scale for Primary School Students" and "Decision Making Skill Scale for Primary School Students" were applied as pre-tests to the experimental and control groups before the experimental procedure. Following this, five weeks of socioscientific subject activities were implemented to only the experimental group, within two lessons per week. After the process, "Critical Thinking Tendency Scale for Primary School Students" and "Decision Making Skill Scale for Primary School Students" were again applied to both groups as a final test. Independent samples t-test and dependent samples t-test were used with descriptive analysis to determine whether there was a significant difference in the data got from the groups. The results gotshowed that critical thinking skills showed moderate development in the experimental group of students with whom socioscientific subject contents were covered, and this have not effect on decision-making skills. The students in the control group where the current curriculum was applied were observed to have a lower level of decision-making skills. These contents turned out, according to the experiment, to be effective in supporting the critical thinking of primary school students and the results got were discussed considering the literature.en_US
