Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, aktif öğrenme yöntemleri içerisinde yer alan köşelenme tekniğinin 7. sınıf sosyal bilgiler dersinde uygulanarak, öğrencilerin akademik başarısına etkisini ortaya koymaktır. Bu araştırma kapsamında araştırmacı tarafından, 7. Sınıf sosyal bilgiler ders kitabında yer alan "İnsanlar, Yerler ve Çevreler" ünitesi için köşelenme tekniği kullanılarak bir ders planı hazırlanmıştır. Çalışmada nicel araştırma yöntemleri içerisinde yer alan yarı deneysel desen modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında, Konya il merkezinde yer alan bir devlet ortaokulunda öğrenim gören 7. sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Deney ve kontrol grubuna öğrenciler bir önceki yılın karne notlarına bakılarak seçilmiştir. Araştırmanın katılımcı sayısı deney grubunda 24, kontrol grubunda 23 olmak üzere toplam 47 kişiden oluşmaktadır. Deney grubuna araştırmacı tarafından köşelenme tekniği kullanılarak hazırlanmış ders planına göre konu anlatımı yapılmıştır. Kontrol grubuna ise devlet okulunda görevli öğretmen tarafından programa dayalı öğretim yöntemine göre konu anlatımı yapılmıştır. Uygulama öncesinde her iki gruba araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanmış olan akademik başarı testi öntest olarak uygulanmıştır. 5 haftalık ders anlatımı sonrasında, her iki gruba akademik başarı testi bu kez sontest olarak uygulanmıştır. Araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan akademik başarı testi için madde güçlük analizi, madde ayırt edicilik analizi ve güvenirlik (KR-20) analizi yapılmıştır. Akademik başarı testi toplam 25 sorudan oluşmaktadır. Uygulama sonrasında elde edilen veriler istatistiksel yöntemler kullanılarak analiz edildi. Katılımcıların deney ve kontrol gruplarına göre dağılımlarının belirlenmesinde frekans ve yüzde analizi yapılmıştır. Öğrencilerin öntest ve sontest başarı puanlarına göre betimsel analiz yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın alt problemlerinin incelenmesinde verilerin dağılımı Shapiro-Wilk testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analize göre verilerin normal dağıldığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Deney ve kontrol grupları arasındaki farkın belirlenmesinde bağımsız örneklem t-testi kullanılmıştır. Deney ve kontrol grubunun kendi içinde ön test ve son test puanları arasındaki farkların belirlenmesi için bağımlı örneklem t-testi yapılmıştır. Sonuç olarak bakıldığında deney ve kontrol grubunun öntest ve sontest puanları karşılaştırılmış, deney grubu lehine anlamlı farklılık olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu araştırma, ders anlatımında köşelenme tekniğinin kullanıldığı deney grubunun, programa dayalı öğretim yöntemiyle dersin anlatıldığı kontrol grubundan akademik olarak daha başarılı olduğu sonucunu ortaya koymaktadır.
The aim of this research is to reveal the effect of cornering technique, which is one of the active learning methods, on the academic success of students by applying it in the 7th grade social studies lesson. Within the scope of this research, a lesson plan was prepared by the researcher for the "People, Places and Environments" unit in the 7th grade social studies textbook, using the cornering technique. In the study, the quasi-experimental design model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The study group of the research consists of 7th grade students studying in a state secondary school in the city center of Konya in the 2021-2022 academic year. Students in the experimental and control groups were selected based on the previous year's report grades. The number of participants of the study consisted of 47 people, 24 in the experimental group and 23 in the control group. The subject was explained to the experimental group according to the lesson plan prepared by the researcher using the cornering technique. On the other hand, subject lectures were given to the control group by a teacher in a public school according to the program-based teaching method. Before the application, the academic achievement test prepared by the researcher was applied to both groups as a pre-test. After 5 weeks of lecture, academic achievement test was applied to both groups as a posttest this time. For the academic achievement test prepared by the researcher, item difficulty analysis, item discrimination analysis and reliability (KR-20) analysis were performed. The academic achievement test consists of 25 questions in total. The data obtained after the application were analyzed using statistical methods. Frequency and percentage analysis were performed to determine the distribution of the participants according to the experimental and control groups. Pretest and posttest achievement scores of students on descriptive analysis was conducted. In the analysis of the sub-problems of the research, the distribution of the data was analyzed with the Shapiro-Wilk test. According to the analysis, it was concluded that the data were normally distribute. Independent sample t-test was used to determine the difference between the experimental and control groups. The dependent sample t-test was used to determine the differences between the pretest and posttest scores of the experimental and control groups. As a result, the pretest and posttest scores of the experimental and control groups were compared, and it was determined that there was a significant difference in favor of the experimental group. This research reveals that the experimental group, in which the cornering technique was used in the lecture, was more successful academically than the control group, in which the lesson was taught with the program-based teaching method.
