dc.description.abstractKentler, insanlık tarafından inşa edilmiş olan tartışmasız en önemli sosyal, ekonomik ve kültürel yapılardır. Bu yapılar asırlar boyunca birçok önemli gelişmeye tanıklık etmiş ve etmeye de devam etmektedir. Kentlerde görülen yoğun sanayileşme ve hızlı nüfus artışı, kentlerin ekonomik ve çevresel bağlamda sürdürülebilirliğini ciddi manada tehlikeye düşüren; enerji, su, ulaşım, sağlık, eğitim ve güvenlik gibi kentsel altyapı hizmetlerinde görülen çeşitli sorunları beraberinde getirmektedir. Bu sorunların çözümü çerçevesinde, bilgi iletişim teknolojilerinin yoğun olarak kullanımını içeren, kent hayatının daha yaşanabilir ve yüksek refah düzeyi sunmasına dair çalışmaları konu alan "akıllı kent" yaklaşımı gündeme gelmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractCities are the most important social, economic and cultural structures built by the humanity. These structures have witnessed many significant developments for centuries, and continue to do. The intense industrialization and rapid population growth threaten the sustainability of the cities in terms of environmental context, and cause problems regarding the urban infrastructure services, such as energy, water, transportation, health care, education and safety. In order to solve these problems, "smart city" approach, which includes the active usage of information and communication technologies, has emerged. The smart city approach reflects the attempts of higher level of prosperity that city life can deliver, and more liveability of it.en_US
