After Russia occupied the Caucasus, it followed a policy aimed at assimilation and Russification of the region. Caucasian peoples, on the other hand, could never accept the Tsarist regime due to the pressure of Russia. The Caucasian peoples, who could not carry out a political movement for a long time, realized that they needed to organize politically with the 1905 Russian Revolution, and they got the opportunity they were looking for with the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. After the Bolshevik Revolution, four different states were established in the Caucasus region, but Soviet Russia never gave up on the Caucasus region. Since 1920, Soviet Russia took the entire Caucasus under its dominance again and connected these states to the Soviets. In this study, the policy followed by Russia in the Caucasus was examined in the light of the newspaper “Tercüman-ı Hakikat”. The newspaper is an important source in terms of being in the publishing life during the period when the Russians tried to assimilate the Caucasus, when independent states were established in the Caucasus and when it was Sovietized again.
