Minarets have very special meanings and functions in Turkish Islamic art circles. Mosque minarets covering an important area of architecture in the formation phase of Islamic Arts were build to announce prayer times to the public. These works consist of high walls and towers with stairs build near the mosque. These works, which are one of the most important elements of the mosque they belong to, have reached their highest expression in terms of size, shape, form and aesthetic appearance over time. Hatay, which is located in the southern region of Anatolia, is an important city that has preserved its value and fused with the different cultures of the civilizations that have passed through the centuries. Among the minarets called Ottoman Period Hatay Minarets which constitute our research subject and which have a different importance in the city, 28 minarets in Antakya which is the district center of Hatay and its districts Altınözü, Reyhanlı, Yayladağı, Samandağ, Belen, Payas and İskenderun has entered our field. All of the minarets, which have the influence of different cultures, are Ottoman period works. There are few scientific studies about the Ottoman Period Hatay Minarets In addition to the orijinal minaret, some of the minarets in the city have been tried to be kept alive with repairs and additions, some of which have lost their originality to a great extent. The dimensions and plans af all the examined works are given in detail. Detailed descriptions were made and the epitaps were mentioned, and the study was supported by mant photograps. There are two different types of minarets in the city in general. One group has a short thick polygonal body with fringe umbrella balconies, and the other group has a thin long cylindrical body with a pyramidal or conical cone. All of the works were build of cut stone. It is of great importance for us that the 28 minarets, which have survived to the present day, reflect their orijinal features during the restoration. Seeing that the first constructions of these minarest, which are works of the Ottoman period, had Zengi, Eyyübi, Memlük influence and that they are still alive today, proves how much ımportance and care the Ottoman state gave to art and culture.
