| dc.description.abstract | Bu çalışmada farklı kültür ve dönemlerde yaşamış olan iki filozofun müzik anlayışları incelenmektedir. Felsefe tarihinde bir sistem filozofu olan Platon ile müzik nazariyesi hakkında sistematik bir biçimde kitap yazan ve yine bir sistem filozofu olan ilk müzik bilimcisi Farabi'nin müzik anlayışları, müziğe bakışları ve müziğe dair düşünceleri araştırılmaktadır. Antik Yunan Medeniyeti ile Ortaçağ İslam Medeniyetinde yaşayan filozofların yaşadıkları dönemlerde müzik hakkındaki çalışmaları ve dönemlerine kazandırdıkları katkıların anlaşılmasını amaçlayan bu çalışma müziğin oluşum sürecine, gelişimine ve Antik Yunan döneminde hâkim olan müzik anlayışı ve dönemin büyük filozofu Platon'un müzik anlayışına odaklanmaktadır. Ayrıca Farabi'nin müzik anlayışını ve müzik sanatına bakışını yakından inceleyerek, Platon'dan ayrıldığı şekliyle onun bu konuya dair kendine özgün görüşlerini ortaya koymayı amaçlar. Bu tez, her iki filozofu karşılaştırarak, onların genelde sanata dair ve özelde ise müzik hakkındaki görüşlerinin başlıca yönlerini ortaya koymaktadır. Her iki filozofun sanat konusunda birkaç merkezi noktalarda paylaştıkları ortak noktalar olsa da, Farabi hem kapsam ve içerik açısından Platon'ununkileri fazlasıyla aşan müziğe dair yazılarıyla hem de müziğe bir disiplin olarak ele alan derin görüşleriyle, kendisine temayüz ettirmektedir. Ayrıca, her ne kadar Farabi Platon'dan siyaset anlayışı konusunda etkilense bile, daha derin bir müzik teorisi ve daha kapsamlı bir sistematik müzik tahlili sunmaktadır. Öyle ki bu nedenle o, felsefe tarihinde ilk önde gelen müzikologlardan biri olarak isimlendirmeyi hak etmektedir. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | This study analyzes the musical perceptions of two famous philosophers who lived in different cultures and periods in the history. The view of Platon on music, known as a system philosopher in the history of philosophy and that of Farabi's, who wrote a grand systematic work on musical theories and hence made a fame as the first musicologist have been examined comparatively in this thesis. This study aims at identifying the writings of these two philosophers about music, as well as their contributions to the formation process and the development of music and musical theories in the ancient Greek civilization and the medieval Islamic civilization. This thesis furthermore investigates Farabi's perception of the art of music and attempts to outline his original views on the subject as differed from Platon's. By comparing and contrasting these two philosophers, the thesis sets out the major aspects of their theories of art in general and those of their musical views in particular. In spite of several central points commonly shared by both philosophers on art, Farabi distinguished himself in the scope and content of his writings on music, far surpassed those of Platon, but also in his profound view of music itself as a discipline. Again, although Farabi was influenced by Platon in his understanding of politics, he apparently afforded a much deeper theory of music and a far better systematic analysis of music, therefore he deserves to be named in the history of philosophy as one of the early pioneering musicologists. | en_US |
