Özet
Din ve siyaset tarih boyunca birbirini etkileyen ve şekillendiren iki olgu olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'nde her ne kadar kilise-devlet ayrılığı anayasal bir esas olsa da zaman zaman birbirlerinin alanına girmişlerdir. Amerikan siyasetinde etkili bir güç olan Evanjelik hareket, siyaset yoluyla kendi fikirlerini devlette egemen kılmaya çalışmaktadır. Bu çalışmada öncelikle Evanjelikalizmin tanımı ve geçirdiği tarihsel süreç ortaya konmuştur. Evanjelik hareketin siyaset kurumlarına etkisi araştırılırken Amerika'daki dinî yapı, dinin halk açısından önemi istatistikî verilerle ortaya konmuştur. Evanjelikler Hıristiyan Sağ Hareketini kullanarak siyaseti etkilediği için bu Evanjelik yapı bünyesindeki belli başlı örgütlerin, amaçları, talepleri ve ilgi konuları araştırılmıştır. Siyasî konulara farklı bir yaklaşım sergileyen Evanjelik Sol da bu bölümde incelenmiştir. Evanjelik Hareket siyasî hayatta olduğu kadar medyada da etkili olmuştur. Bu bağlamda evanjelik radyo ve televizyonculuğun geçmişi, önde gelen Evanjelik yayın ağları ve faaliyetleri araştırılmıştır. Evanjelik yayıncılığın boyutu ve halk üzerindeki etkisinin daha iyi anlaşılabilmesi için bazı önde gelen televanjelistlerin biyografileri verilmiştir.
Religion and politics are phenomena that has influenced and shaped each other throughout history. In the United States, although the separation of church-state is a constitutional basis, from time to time they have entered each other's field. The Evangelical movement, an influential force in American politics, tries to make its ideas dominant in the state through politics. In this study, firstly, the definition of evangelicalism and the historical process it has undergone. While investigating the influence of the evangelical movement on political institutions, the religious structure in the United States and the importance of religion in the public sphere were revealed with statistical data. Since evangelicals influenced politics by using the Christian Right Movement, the main organizations within this structure, their aims, demands and interests were investigated. The evangelical left, which has a different approach to political issues, has also been studied in this chapter. The Evangelical Movement has been influential in the media as well as in political life. In this context, the history of evangelical radio and television, the leading Evangelical broadcast networks and activities were investigated. In order to understand the extent of evangelical broadcasting and its impact on the public, biographies of some leading televangelists have been given.
