| dc.description.abstract | Son yıllarda yükselişte olan dünya nüfusu ve yoğun kentleşme, turizm kavramında kayda değer değişikliklere sebep olmuştur. Turizm denince ilk akla gelen deniz-kum-güneş destinasyonları insanın tatile ve doğaya olan ihtiyacını gidermekte yetersiz kalmıştır. İnsanlar doğal alanlarda yapılabilen farklı turizm faaliyetlerine ve yerel kültürleri deneyimlemeye yönelmişlerdir. İşte bu noktada “Ekoturizm” kavramı hızla gelişmiş ve bir sektör haline dönüşmüştür. Özellikle pandemi süreciyle doğa temelli faaliyetler artmış ve ekoturizme geçiş hızlanmıştır. Ekoturizm; çevreye zarar vermeden gerçekleştirilen, doğal ortamın sürdürülebilirliğini sağlayan ve yerel halkın sosyoekonomik gelişimine katkı sağlayan turizm türü olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Kitlesel turizmden farklı olan ekoturizm Dünya Turizm Örgütüne göre dünyada en hızlı gelişen turizm türü olarak ifade edilmektedir. Ayrıca, ekoturizm gezginlerin hem fiziksel peyzaj hem de kültürel özellikler bakımından alanlar hakkında eğitilmesine izin vermektedir. Bununla birlikte; belli bölgelerin korunmasına ve yoksul kırsal yerlerin ekonomik kalkınmasına katkı sağlar. Bu bilimsel çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Betimsel nitelik taşıyan bu araştırmada, tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada akademik çalışmalardan, uluslararası kuruluşların Karayip Topluluğuna üye ülkeler ile alakalı hazırlamış oldukları çevrimiçi belgelerden, raporlardan, sayısal verilerden, ülkelere ait resmi çevrimiçi turizm ile alakalı internet sitelerinden faydalanılmıştır. Çalışma alanını oluşturan Karayip Topluluğu; Orta Amerikada bulunmakta ve kısaca CARICOM olarak ifade edilen 15 ada ülkesiden oluşmaktadır. Doğal kaynakları ve kültürel değerleri bakımından bir cazibe alanı oluşturan bu bölge aynı zamanda yoğun nüfuslu ülkelere özellikle ABD’ye yakın olması nedeniyle de ekoturizm faaliyetleri için tercih edilen bir bölge durumundadır. Bu çalışma da tek bir ulus devlet gibi düşünülen fakat 7000 ada ve adacıktan oluşan dünyanın en geniş tuzlu su denizindeki Karayip topluluğuna üye olan 15 ülkenin ekoturizm faaliyetleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu bölgede kuş gözlemciliğinden, doğa yürüyüşüne kadar pek çok türde ekoturizm faaliyeti yapılmaktadır. Yapılan çalışmalar ve değerlendirmeler sonucunda bu ülkeler için turizmin ana döviz kaynağı olduğu ve bölgenin kalkınmasında hayati bir öneme sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Son yıllarda özellikle ekoturizme yönelik yapılan yatırımlar sonucunda ekoturizm faaliyetlerinin ülkelerin Gayri Safi Milli Hasılası’na olumlu katkıda bulunduğu gözlemlenmiştir. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | The rising world population and intense urbanization in recent years have led to significant changes in the concept of tourism. The sea-sand-sun destinations that come to mind first when it comes to tourism have been insufficient to meet people's need for vacation and nature. People have tended to experience different tourism activities and local cultures that can be done in natural areas. At this point, the concept of "Ecotourism" has developed rapidly and has become a sector. Especially with the pandemic process, nature-based activities have increased and the transition to ecotourism has accelerated. Ecotourism; It is defined as a type of tourism that is carried out without harming the environment, ensuring the sustainability of the natural environment and contributing to the socio-economic development of the local people. Ecotourism, which is different from mass tourism, is expressed as the fastest growing tourism type in the world according to the World Tourism Organization. In addition, ecotourism allows travelers to be educated about areas in terms of both physical landscape and cultural features. With this; It contributes to the protection of certain regions and to the economic development of poor rural areas. Qualitative research methods were used in this scientific study. In this descriptive study, scanning model was used. In the research, academic studies, online documents, reports, numerical data, and official online tourism-related websites of countries were used. The Caribbean Community, which constitutes the study area; It is located in Central America and consists of 15 island countries, briefly referred to as CARICOM. This region, which creates an area of attraction in terms of its natural resources and cultural values, is also a preferred region for ecotourism activities because it is close to densely populated countries, especially the USA. In this study, ecotourism activities of 15 countries, which are considered as a single nation state, but which are members of the Caribbean community in the world's largest saltwater sea consisting of 7000 islands and islets, are emphasized. There are many types of ecotourism activities in this region, from bird watching to nature walks. As a result of the studies and evaluations, it has been determined that tourism is the main source of foreign exchange for these countries and has a vital importance in the development of the region. In recent years, it has been observed that ecotourism activities have contributed positively to the Gross National Product of the countries, especially as a result of the investments made in ecotourism. | en_US |
