Cezayir güzel sanatlar tarihinin en önemli minyatür sanatçısı olarak kabul edilen Mohammed
Racim, cesur ve eşsiz eserleriyle Cezayir'de İslam sanatının yerleşmesine katkıda bulunmuştur. Sanatçı,
Fransız işgali sırasında doğduğu Cezayir tarihinde zor bir dönemde yaşamıştır. Aynı zamanda kurtuluş
devrimine ve bağımsızlık aşamasına da tanık olmuştur. Racim'in sanatsal üretimi, İslam medeniyet tarihinin
önceki dönemlerinin birer vesikasıdır. Cezayir'in işgal tarafından kültürel ve sosyal olarak soyulduğu
sanatçının yaşadığı gerçekliğin aksine, Cezayir tarihinin önceki yüzyıllarına dönerek Osmanlı döneminde
ülkesinde ne olduğunu gösteren eserler üretmeye çalışmıştır. Bu araştırma, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ile
Cezayir arasındaki sanatsal ve tarihsel ilişkiyi ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada aynı zamanda sanatçı Mohammed
Racim’in hayatına, şahsiyetine, eserlerine ve talebelerine dair malumat verilmiştir. Son olarak sanatçının
Osmanlı dönemini ifade eden eserleri sunulmuş ve analiz edilmiştir.
The artist Mohammed Racim is considered the most important miniature artist in the history of the Algerian fine arts. Through his brave and distinguished works, he contributed to the consolidation of this traditional Islamic art in Algeria. The artist lived a difficult period in the history of Algeria, where he was born at the time of the French occupation and witnessed the liberation revolution and the stage of independence. Racim's artistic production focused on earlier periods in the history of Islamic civilization. Contrary to the reality that the artist lived through, where Algeria was culturally and socially robbed by the occupation, he returned to the previous centuries of Algerian history and tried to produce works that mimic what a country was like in the Ottoman era. This study examines the artistic and historical relationship between the Ottoman Empire and Algeria. The study also provided information about the life of the artist (Mohammed Racim) his personality, works, and students. Finally, the artist's works that express the Ottoman era are presented and analyzed.
