Özet
Bu araştırma, ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin (n=463) vatan kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları zihinsel algıları, metaforlar aracılığıyla ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi, Konya ili İsmil Anadolu İmam-Hatip Lisesi ve Karatay Fen Lisesi, Afyonkarahisar ili Dazkırı Anadolu Lisesi, Gaziantep ili Nuriye-Vasıf Onat Kız Anadolu Lisesi, İstanbul ili Gazi Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi ve Aksaray ilinde bulunan Taşpınar Anadolu Lisesinde 2017-2018 eğitim öğretim yılında öğrenim gören 11. sınıf öğrencilerinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma verileri "Vatan ... gibidir/benzer. Çünkü; ..." ifadesinin öğrenciler tarafından tamamlanmasıyla elde edilmiştir. Veriler nitel araştırma teknikleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, öğrenciler vatan kavramına ilişkin olarak toplam 77 adet geçerli metafor üretmiştir. Bu metaforlar daha sonra ortak özellikleri bakımından 12 farklı kavramsal kategori altında toplanmıştır. Söz konusu bu 12 kavramsal kategori, okul türü (Anadolu Lisesi, Anadolu İmam Hatip Lisesi, Fen Lisesi ve Meslekî ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi) bakımından önemli farklılıklar göstermiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda, öğrencilerin genel manada vatan kavramını zihinlerinde doğru olarak yapılandırdıkları gözlenmiştir.
This research was conducted to reveal the mental perceptions of high school students (n = 463) about the concept of homeland through metaphors. The sample of the research is the 11th grade students who are studying at Konya İsmil Anatolian Religious Vocational High School, Konya Karatay Science High School, Afyonkarahisar Dazkırı Anatolian High School, Gaziantep Nuriye-Vasıf Onat Girls' Anatolian High School, Istanbul Gazi Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and Aksaray Taşpınar Anatolian High School in 2017-2018 education year. The data of the research was obtained by students' completing the statements like "Homeland is like / similar to a …. Because; …." The data were analyzed using qualitative research techniques. According to the findings of the study, students produced a total of 77 valid metaphors about the concept of homeland. These metaphors were then grouped under 12 different conceptual categories in terms of their common characteristics. These 12 conceptual categories showed significant differences in terms of school types (Anatolian high school, Anatolian religious vocational high school, science high school and vocational and technical high school). As a result of the research, it was observed that the students constructed the concept of homeland correctly in their minds.
