dc.description.abstractTezimizde Memlûk Devleti ile diğer siyasal güçler arasında1250–1382 yılları arasında gerçekleşen elçilik teatisi kapsamlı biçimde incelenmiştir. Çalışmada Abbâsî halifeliği, Altın Orda, İlhanlı ve Celayırlı devletlerinden başlayarak Selçuklu Devleti, Anadolu Beylikleri, Osmanlı ve Bizans İmparatorluğu ile kurulan temaslar değerlendirilmiştir. Bunun yanında Resûlîler, Habeş Krallığı, Nûbe Krallığı, Mağrib'deki Merînî, Hafsî ve Zeyyânî hanedanları ile Seylan Krallığıyla yürütülen ilişkiler ele alınmıştır. Fransa, Ceneviz, Sicilya, Papalık, Marsilya, Aragon, Kastilya, Katalonya, Sevilya, Haçlı Kontlukları, Kilikya Ermeni Krallığı ve Kıbrıs Lusignan Krallığı ile gerçekleşen karşılıklı gönderimler de ayrıntılı biçimde ortaya konulmuştur. Araştırmada ayrıca hükümdarlar arasında hediyeleşme uygulamaları, elçilerin görev ve sorumlulukları, seçilmeleri, görevlendirilmeleri ve yolculuk sürecinde yaşadıkları tecrübeler araştırılmıştır. Hem Memlûk Devleti'ne gelen heyetlerin kabulü hem de bu devlet tarafından gönderilen elçilerin diğer saraylarda nasıl karşılandıkları üzerinde durulmuştur. Elde edilen bilgiler, Memlûklerin Doğu ve Batı dünyasıyla yürüttükleri elçilik faaliyetlerinin siyasi, askerî, ekonomik ve kültürel açıdan belirleyici bir rol üstlendiğini ortaya koymaktadır. dc.description.abstractIn this thesis, the exchange of embassies between the Mamluk Sultanate and other political powers during the years 1250–1382 has been examined in a comprehensive manner. The study evaluates the contacts established with the Abbasid Caliphate, the Golden Horde, the Ilkhanate, and the Jalayirid State, as well as the Seljuk Empire, the Anatolian Beyliks, the Ottoman Empire, and the Byzantine Empire. In addition, relations with the Rasulids, the Kingdom of Ethiopia, the Kingdom of Nubia, the Merinid, Hafsid, and Zayyanid dynasties in the Maghreb, and the Kingdom of Ceylon are discussed. The reciprocal missions conducted with France, Genoa, Sicily, the Papacy, Marseille, Aragon, Castile, Catalonia, Seville, the Crusader Principalities, the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia, and the Lusignan Kingdom of Cyprus are also analyzed in detail. The study further examines the practice of gift-giving among rulers, the duties and responsibilities of envoys, their selection and appointment, as well as the experiences encountered during their journeys. Attention is given both to the reception of delegations arriving at the Mamluk court and to the treatment of Mamluk representatives sent to other courts. The findings reveal that the embassy exchanges carried out by the Mamluks with both the Eastern and Western worlds played a central role in political, military, socio-economic, and cultural contexts.
