Özet
Vikingler Ortaçağ tarihinde büyük bir rol oynamışlardır. VIII. yüzyılın sonlarında anavatanları İskandinavya'dan çıkan Vikingler tüm Avrupa'yı yağmalamaya ve yakıp yıkmaya başladılar. Vikinglerin yağma ve istilalarına İslam dünyası da maruz kalmıştır. Bu nedenle Endülüs üzerine Vikinglerin bir takım istila hareketlerinde bulundukları görmekteyiz. Nitekim Vikinglerin İslam dünyasına beş kez saldırı düzenlediklerini tespit edebildik. Bunların dört seferi Endülüs üzerine bir seferi Hazar Denizi ve çevresine yapılmıştır. İslam Tarih kaynaklarında Vikingler için Mecûs ve Rûs ifadelerinin kullanıldığını görmekteyiz. İki farklı kullanılışın sebebi Normanlar ile Varegler'i birbirinden ayırmak olmalıdır. Normanlar söz konusu edilirken Mecûs kullanılırken, Varegler'den bahsedilirken Rûs kullanıldığını görürüz. Bu makalede Vikinglerin İslam dünyasına düzenlemiş olduğu beş saldırının üzerinde durularak ayrıntılarla bahsedilecektir.
The Viking Attacks on Islamic Lands in History The Vikings have played a major role in the history of the middle Ages. At the end of the 8th century the Vikings left their homeland Scandinavia and began to plunder and devastate the whole Europe. The Vikings pillage and invasion has also reached the Islamic world. We see a number of invasion attempts by Vikings on Andalusia. We were able to identify five attacks on the Islamic world organized by the Vikings. Four of them were on the Andalusian lands and one was took place around the Caspian Sea. We see that the expression used for the Vikings in Islamic History sources are “majus” and “rus”. The reason for the use of two different words must be the aim to distinguish between the Normans and Varangians. We see that “majus” is used when referring to Normans and “rus” is used when referring to Varangians. This article will deal with the five attacks of the Vikings on the Islamic world and will analyze them in detail.
