benimsemektedir. 2) Öğretmen adaylarının öğretme ve öğrenme
anlayışları cinsiyetlerine göre farklılaşmamaktadır. 3) Öğretmen
adaylarının yapılandırmacı öğretme ve öğrenme anlayışları ile
yapılandırmacı öğrenme ortamına ilişkin algıları arasında düşük düzeyde
pozitif yönlü ilişki bulunmaktadır.
Conceptions of teaching and learning indicate teachers’ beliefsabout their preferred ways of teaching and learning. These beliefs involvemeaning of teaching and learning and roles of teachers and students. This study, which is a descriptive one, aims to describe preserviceteachers’ conceptions of teaching and learning and reveal the relationshipbetween their conceptions of teaching and learning and constructivistlearning environments. The relational screening model was used in thestudy. The working group of the study 227 preservice teachers attendingNecmettin Erbakan University Ahmet Keleşoğlu Education Faculty in the2017-2018 academic year. “The Teaching-Learning ConceptionsQuestionnaire” , which was developed by Chan and Elliot (2004) andadapted to Turkish by Aypay (2011), was used to determine preserviceteachers’ teaching and learning conceptions. On the other hand, “Scalefor Assessment of Constructivist Learning Environments”, which wasdeveloped by Arkün and Aşkar (2010), was used to determine preserviceteachers’ perceptions with regard to constructivist learningenvironments. Descriptive statistics were used in this study to determinepreservice teachers’ teaching-learning conceptions. In addition, non-parametric tests were used in order to analyze the data. Moreover, MannWhitney U test was used to compare and contrast preservice teachers’conceptions of teaching and learning on the basis of gender, whereasSpearman rank correlation coefficient was used to determine therelationship between preservice teachers’ preferences of teaching andlearning conceptions and their conceptions of constructivist learningenvironments.According to the findings of the study, 1) preservice teachers likethe constructivist approach better than the traditional approach andprefer it at a higher level. 2) Preservice teachers’ conceptions of teachingand learning do not vary by gender. 3) There is a positive and low level ofcorrelation between preservice teachers’ constructivist teaching andlearning conceptions and their perceptions of constructivist learningenvironments.
