Özet
Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’ın, 1950’de Yeni İstanbul gazetesinde tefrika edildikten sonra 1973’te kitaplaşan üçüncü romanı Sahnenin Dışındakiler, Mahur Beste ve Huzur’la birlikte bir nehir roman meydana getirir. Esasen başkişisi ve anlatıcısı Cemal’in anılarından oluşan romanın, vaka zamanı itibariyle, önem taşıyan cephelerinden biri, Mütareke İstanbul’una dair birtakım gözlemler içeriyor oluşu; diğeri ise adındaki “sahne” kelimesi dolayısıyla bir sanatçı romanı niteliği taşımasıdır. Bir başka deyişle; “sahne” ve bu kelimenin çağrıştırdıkları doğrultusunda bir sahne sanatı olarak tiyatroya dair gönderme ve benzetmelerle yine tiyatrodan ödünçlediği kavram, terim ve icraatlarıyla Sahnenin Dışındakiler, aynı zamanda, tiyatro sanatına dair bir romandır. Dahası roman, bir aşk hikâyesi ve Millî Mücadele anlatısı olduğu kadar, çocukluğundan itibaren oyunculuğa ve tiyatroya ilgi duyan Sabiha’nın, kendi dönemi için büyük bir cesaret örneği sergileyerek “sahneye çıkacak ilk Türk kadını”sıfatıyla tiyatro sanatçılığına adım atışının da öyküsüdür. Bu çalışmada, Sahnenin Dışındakiler, genelde, sahne sanatı olarak tiyatroya, özelde ise romanın merkezî karakterlerinden Sabiha’nın, oyuncu olma yolunda adım adım ilerleyişine değinenbir “sanatçı romanı” olarak değerlendirilecektir.
The third novel of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Sahnenin Dışındakiler which was published into a book in 1973 after it had been serialized in Yeni İstanbul newspaper in 1950 creates a serial novel (Nehir Roman) along with Mahur Besteand Huzur. One of the important elements of the novel as of the event, which fundamentally consists of the memories of Cemal who is the protagonist and thenarrator of the novel, is that it includes some observations related to Istanbul in Armistice period; the other is that it includes the word “Sahne (stage)” in its title, therefore it has an artist novel feature. In other words, Sahnenin Dışındakiler is also a novel related to the art of theatre through the terms, discoveries, concepts which again borrowed from theatre and references and comparisons related to theatre in parallel with the word “sahne” and the associations of this word. Moreover, the novel is both a love story and the story of War of Independence, and also it is the story of Sabiha who has always been interested in acting and theatre since her childhood and got on the theatre stage by displaying an example of courage in her period and gaining the title of “the first Turkish woman on stage”. In this study, Sahnenin Dışındakiler is going to be analyzed as an “artist novel” which mentions theatre as a performing art in general and Sabiha, who progresses the stairs of being an actress step by step, specifically.
